Pogo Alert - Speed camera unit

Just wondering if any of you also own a Pogo Alert+?

I bought mine because its one of the very few units which can take an external aerial which helps with the RRS's heated screen and the GPS signal attenuation so the small unit can be mounted in a discrete location.

It also had the facility to hold a record of your trip which can be downloaded to a PC and it saved me time doing my expenses. It is still under warranty but the importers Origin Technologies was taken over by Road Angel Group. Road Angel turned off the web based 'Google' tracking facility without any warning and may not reinstate it in the "foreseeable future".

I moaned that the unit was not now as described and so was no longer fit for the purpose I bought it for - much prevarication but the up-shot is they have no replacements. Story is new units are allegedly in China awaiting clearance 6 months+.

Add to that the backlight on the screen has now pretty much gone so its not readable in normal daylight. They have no spares so can't repair it either !!

Road Angel would like me to have one of their Gem units which also means about £70 per year in subs. It can't take an external aerial and must be in-line of sight because it has a Radar receptor (I think these are a waste of time because it only sees the gun after the gun has seen you.

So if you own one be aware if it goes toes up that's probably it.

Anyone own the Gem deluxe - what do you think of it?

I have had the latest gem deluxe for a couple of months now and it works fine in my Discovery which also has a heated windscreen. So far I have been quite impressed with this unit, the display is easy to view even though its quiet a bit smaller than the RA vantage I had before.

I have a pogo and pogo alert obviously in different vehicles. Have had numerous problems with touch screen version but the original pogo works well. I had a three year update contract but didn't renew it this time as I read they had removed various facilities that were invaluable.
My conclusion is that they are over priced and not as good as they once were due to being taken over by Road Angel and their sales team are quite aggressive where as nothing was an issue for Origin even when I had issues with my PC. One of their techs dialed into my machine and fixed it in seconds, Road Angel weren't interested in unit even though under guarantee as they didn't sell it.
Bunch of crooks is my view..... 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜
