United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Sumatra Black

As you know, if it was good enough for Aston Martin to get their customers to test their cars, it's good enough for JLR Smile

I read this thread before I got my car and wondered whether or not I'd notice anything.
Happy to say have not noticed this and I'm on 22's.
But, I have noticed a smell in the cab after about a mile; burning oil I can only describe it as. I pulled up at a friends workshop on Saturday and noticed smoke drifting from under the car??
My friend ( who's a mechanic ) had a look underneath................nothing to see, its all covered!
He said it may just be grease etc burning off but to take it back if it persists.
Sorry to drift off thread Embarassed

No noises from the 20" wheels either.

I was very pleased with the MPG, 34.7mpg with the stop/start on after 450 miles. That's more than my Freelander averaged after 30,000 miles! Very Happy Bow down Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Gone but not forgotten:

I can hear a very slight drone at about 60mph on the 20 inch wheels but really nothing to complain about. As we are bragging about fuel consumption, I got 38.2 mpg today on a 25 mile run across the New Forest. Remarkable really compared to my X5 40d I had previously which would have given 28 mpg on a similar run. Regards

Malcolm

I'm now 450 miles in on my RRS 2 with the style 6, 22" wheels. There is definitely too much noise from the road for my liking, which I'm gutted about as I'm pretty sure that there won't be a solution to it.

I haven't raised it with my dealer yet as I haven't had the chance to take it in but I might consider asking them to change the wheels for either 21's or even the stock 20's as I was going to change to one of these sizes - before the dealer confirmed my order spec without contacting me first for a spec review.

But anyway, before I go down that road - what tyre pressures are you people with 22's running?

Also, I used to take my 911 to a specialist for a 4 wheel alignment every so often and I'm planning to do the same with this RRS. Has anyone else done this to their RRS.2 yet and does anyone think that it might reduce any of the tyre roar that I'm getting? (By any remote chance!) MY14 RRS2, Corris, Pano, 50/50 Cirrus/Black leather, Meridien sound, 22" Style 6's, Bespoke Gap around tailgate.
Porsche 911 (just left!)

I swapped from winter to summer tyres recently and have just completed a 500 mile roundtrip to Cornwall. The noise is definitely there but it is very sensitive to road surface. On cement it is awful but on other surfaces it is tolerable and I am kind of getting used to it.
I have not tried a wheel-alignment and will be going for a more outright road tyre next time now that I have the winter tyres and not these M + S Contis, that come with the car.

hornbaek, thanks for the update.
Its interesting that the noise still occurs with different rubber. I wonder if its an issue of wheel spacers they use of the 22" or the 22" design itself?
Have you experimented with tire pressure at all, lowering the front? Factories tend to overpressure the tires all around.

Yes I have tampered with tyre pressure and also pumped nitro ( or whatever that is ) into the tyres with no real result. It is getting better with tyre wear and I have kind if gotten used to it. I have a much bigger issue and that is a shrieking wind noise from the front roof panel. I have put gaffa tape over the panel gap and that has addressed the problem but obviously not solved it.

My 22 inch with continental tyres make a lot more noise on the concrete section of the M25 near Leatherhead than my old MY10 Sport made with Grabber AT tyres

I had a L322 with a hamming noise from the front which appeared at roughly the same speed, it actually came from a loose A pillar.
