I've heard transferring directly from one car to another is very problematic at the moment, the very reason I recently decided to put a plate on retention rather than transfer car to car.

In contrast to this I sent my docs recorded delivery to the DVLA on Monday this week. This morning I received a new V5 and the retention notice for the plate Shocked Cool

Hope you get it sorted swiftly. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Had exactly the same issue with a car I bought in June!

Guy wanted to swap his plate onto his new car, took DVLA 5 attempts to swap the numbers over. Eventually got it sorted mid-September Rolling Eyes

Dealer tends to do the switch after the cars bought and new v5 issued for that reason.

It's got really hard for a while apparently Mike

Yes at least 1 month before the plates on...depends on all the forms. I cant recall how they have done it, but they handle it for me so i dont have to. See if its the same this time. Mike

I am in the same situation, in the end I opted to go down the retention route while waiting for the V5 to come back in my name. Been waiting two months so far......still nothing!

They are making a point - you used to go to your local DVLA office and within a week all done but the Gov't is closing them to save money so this is their protest/payback Rolling Eyes
