05 Range Rover Sport Tdv6 SE starts then stalls

Hi

Yesterday I tried starting the car and it fired up for a second then it cut out. It had been a cold night and this was in the morning. I tried again and after 4 times with accelerator peddle push it started,

Once the car is warmed up it starts fine and has been fine all summer etc.

Any suggestions?

Its had a new battery last month as well

Could it be some of the glowplugs faulty? Would a diagnostic check with a suitable fault code reader help to pin point the problem? According to other posts on the forum getting the glowplugs out is a real 'beeatch' to do so if it proves necessary make sure you take it to someone with lots of experience with this job on this engine. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I'm not sure. Ive heard MAF sensor and ecu temp sensor issues could be causing a problem.

I know a land rover technician who said it could be a clogged injector and said to put some injector cleaner through the system.

I am going to take the car there tomorrow and have it plugged into the diagnostics

Thumbs Up don't forget to post up the results. If it was an injector fault though wouldn't it run badly all the time not just be hard to start? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Yea will do. Well it sometimes runs a little rough at idle. And I do remember a couple of months ago a diagnostics check showed cylinder 5 misfiring.

Not convinced, but these cars are strange beasts. Could be a brake light bulb Laughing

Just an update, the cars going to land rover today and they are keeping over night to see how it starts in the morning. It took a while to start this morning as it was around +1 degrees.

I will post tomorrow with an update

Get them to check the O rings on the fuel pipes mate some times they wear down and start taking air in.

I'll be interested in what they say on this, I had an identical issue with my SC and found it to be a low battery. Now I put it on the C-tek once in a while and I've not had a problem since. 2011 Evoque Si4 Dynamic plus lux

Just an update on this.

I took this to Land Rover and the diagnostics showed no problems. Typical.

The car struggled to start this morn at 2 degrees. Started then stalled a second later.

Took 4 more times and 5 mins later to start and some gentle revving for a few minutes I was able to get to work!

thanks for that, just wondering what's causing this problem. Mine started first time today, but stalled yesterday.
Will keep you informed if I come up with a solution
