Winter Tyres 275/40/20

Do i, don't i ? Thats the big question. I ran Vredestein Wintrac 4 xtreme 275 40 20's last year and didn't have a problem in the deep snow we had up here in yorkshire and i was contemplating weather to get some for this year or not with forecast of heavy snow next month. Shocked They give you great confidence and i do like to test the limits of my vehicle in deep snow.
Anyone got a set they are thinking of selling Question I could be tempted Wink

Have a set of 4 275x45x20 in the garage done about 1000mls max. Fitted to Supercharger Rims which are in good condition never been kerbed but will have the got the odd stone chip and light scratch here and there.
Only downside is not back in UK until around 20th November. Would be looking for £650 if interested.

Cheers
Col

Hi Ady

No sorry don't have any pictures at the moment, but if you are still interested by the time I get home I can certainly take some and e-mail them to you or have a go at adding them to post. Shame you are not closer or else you would be more than welcome to pop round and have a look for yourself.

Cheers
Col

I'm going to be refitting my Wintracs next week I think. This will be their third winter. I'm not sure whether I will fit winter tyres next year or just run something like General Grabber AT all year round. If I do go for winters again I think I'll try something else - Wintracs don't figure that highly in winter tyre reviews anymore...

I'd rather pay £60 / corner more for a known tyre like the Dunlop SP Winter 3D

Hi
They are the older original style 10 spoke ones in sort of 5 "V" shape pairs. I think there sparkle silver or something like that.

Cheers

Rrstdv8 & Bc I would normally agree and always bought premium brands in the past believing they were the best Thumbs Up

Looking at reviews and rating labels though 20" Dunlop are £684 a set more and in 19" £308 more but the star performer has a B rating in wet and Dunlop is E rated in wet. Also overall rating not shown in 20" but in 19" the star gets 3.8 and the Dunlop 4.1 out of 5 Confused

Considering we get wet winters with a chance of snow/ice isn't a B rated tyre better than a E or am I missing something Question Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
