Is the 3.0 worth the extra ££££?

I just need a bit of advice.

I've been kicking around here for a while now and have read all the post but here is my situation.

I'll be in a position soon where I can go buy a nice tdv8 for cash BUT do I get a 10k loan and buy the 3.0 instead?

Or should I bank the cash and do a pcp plan (with little deposit) on the 3.0?

Buy the v8 and plan for repairs?

What do I gain from having the new shape 3.0? New dash, different bumpers? (Which doesn't matter as I'll be buying a black one so you can hardly tell the difference)

Have you driven the 3.0L sport Question If not, then go and have a test drive, then make your own mind up. TBH the newer interior alone makes it worth the extra £££'s imo. I wouldn't like to think that i was buying a cheaper sport only to have to throw a load of money at it just to keep it on the road due to it failing one way or another. Whistle However, you just might get a reliable TDV8. Thumbs Up Its luck of the draw. Having said that, i have no evidence how reliable the 3.0L TDV6 is just yet as they are only around 3 years old.

I know you would pop up Thumbs Up

No I've not driven the 3.0 but performance is not an issues and I'm are they are all nice to drive whichever engine you have.

I've just got to justify the extra money to more than a dash if you understand.

Yeah true but I have had a full fat v8 before but everything I've had since has been very nice but "hasn't been a range rover".

Hence why I want to try living with a sport next.

The v8 has appeal as the sound is nice, the dash etc is nice great car all round and would be paid off so if have the money for repairs but the inconvience when they break annoys me. Infact the full fat is the car I kept the longest at 18 months Laughing

I was thinking the 3.0 might spend less time off the road but its 10k more so what's that £250 a month?

I don't know about your calculations Laughing but when you come to sell, the 3.0L is still going to be worth more than the V8. Thumbs Up But only you can decide. I started off with a 2.7 TDV6 as a test vehicle for me to see if i could live with a sport day to day. (i was used to sports cars) I enjoyed the experience of the sport so 14 months later i bought the SDV6 and to be honest if i had to change my vehicle right now, i wouldn't have a clue what would match upto the sport.

The 3.0 got new dash, mild face lift with led lights is that it?

Agree - had 3 now and ought to change but unsure what would work as well.

SDV6 is the sport it should have been on day 1 - more than a dash and facelift - it is a different drive....

The SDV6 is so smooth from initial standing start right through the gears all the way upto 8th, and does it with ease. But you are considering the TDV6 which is different in the way that its got 6 gears and 10 bhp less than the SDV6 but its still an effortless nice drive. The V8 has more grunt with a nice exhaust note. You really need to arrange a test drive of both the TDV6 & the TDV8. Where abouts in Yorkshire are you?

Hold on so there is a sdv6 and a tdv6 both 3.0. The tdv6 from 59 on then it went to a sdv6?

I believe the SDV6 came in on the year 2011-2012.
A much smoother engine coupled with an 8 speed box.
A better drive than the TDV6 with the 6 speed box. MY13.5 Autobiography, Santorini Black, Privacy Glass. Gone
Driving a milk float for now.

TDV6 in the facelift at 2010
Improvements in 2011
SDv6 + 8 speed and a Further facelift in 2012
Improvements in 2013
Model end in 2014

The TDv6 3.0 is good, the SDv6 is better. Facelift is by far important over the older style dash, more now than ever.

Personally the 2013 Sdv6 is very close to the 2014 SDv6 but the 2010/11 TDv6 is miles away Mike

England

It was 2.7L until 2010 when the new D4 and RRS were launched. A new 3.0L. Engine came with the new models.

Weren't there problems with the old 2.7? Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Gone but not forgotten:

2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE in Santorini Black
