Saloon Exec/Hot hatch..

Right.. having a lot of trouble here.
Need a 4 door saloon, auto, 54 plate or newer.. max petrol 2.0 litre, or diesel engine. has to be compact executive.

max price £17k.
Won't touch X type Jag (mondeo repackaged - sorry if anyone has one..)
Or Merc C class.. too many of our employees have them!

basically a car for my mum, but (mostly a 2nd car for me..)
things i have considered so far.. Audi A4 TDI Auto - Mum said, she doesn't want a fleet of audis outside her house! my sisters have VW/Audi right now as well as my brother in law, so it looks just plain silly.

Have looked at even a Golf GTI, but residuals are stacking up as well as what one would think, so not going anywhere near that.

Really stuck on this one.. Bmw 3 series new shape too expensive right now, ES models (corporate edition - £19k plus) and merc c class, they are going to change it next year, plus MB service is terrible..

What else is there.. could go jap.. Honda Accord? Need something relatively economical as thats the point here, to offset the RS4 somewhat. The megane is going and thats a 2.0 litre petrol, so anything up to that is fine.. Ideas anyone?

Wev had a lexus is200 before.. new shapes are too pricey still for this price bracket requirement. We've got a saab 93 in the immediate family as well, so don't want another of these.. (they are very vauxhally to be honest.. prob wouldn't buy one again..).

nah golf gti.. not working out very well on the finance surprisingly.. indicates it might be too high priced now.. residuals aren't stacking up to where we want monthlies to fall.. For a golf GTI, 20kish.. the are giving max balloon of £8k after 5 years, and thats with a push and a nudge.. and for example on a 320iSE for £22k balloon is £10k after 5 years. So im looking for up to £17k for a small exec saloon as this fits in with the money we want to blow a month on this car out of the company.

i think im going to have to go with a merc c200/c180 kompressor SE for now, and then chop it in, in 12 months for a Bmw E90 shape.. think thats the best course of action here, wasted far too much time on this already.. just going round and round in circles..

if anyone sees an E90 3 series for £17kish Auto, let me know!!

Does it have to be an E90? There are some well priced late model E46s out there....

Kam,

Bear with me on this one - how about a Ford S-Max? Shocked Shock, horror, however I am considering one for my wife at the moment. I have never owned a Ford before for most of the obvious reasons, however the main one being I hated the interiors - however the S-Max is quite nice.

2.5 220bhp Petrol of the 2.0tdi 150bhp Diesel

Not sure how you feel about Ford - I guess this may be the sticking point.

To be honest, the only thing that would put me off a Ford is our local dealer - just looks like a load of young kids run the place Confused

@ Kaine: I have to agree with you. The S-Max looks very nice (for a Ford) Wink

Not as stupid an idea as it sounds. The S-Max has had some really good reviews... still not sure about the Ford dealership experience though. They do all look a bit second rate.

thanks guys.. jay would have loved to get the golf gti, would have been great 2nd car for me! however we've had gold before,, want to advance not side step to a degree.. and no i don't think the rs4 was a backstep from the rrs before u say it VA!!

Alfa.. unreliable dealer network (or so i've been told..)
Ford have Censored residuals.. full stop... would rather buy one 6 months old when they come off fleet at 1 third of the price.

Right basically.. did a deal on a c class merc tonight..
Didn't want to buy a merc, but decided im going to buy a merc now (as they are best priced diesels and widely available with auto.. unlike jag x type, lexus is220d or the 320d currently.. could of had an E46 for good money, but ive had all the variants in the e46 model range, so thought i would personally get bored of it.. will swap the merc in for a 320d sport auto next year when they are better priced.

Got the merc, 2005/55 c220 cdi, auto with leather, elegance model so plenty of kit, cruise, climate, cd, auto lights, wipers etc, etc..
9k on the clock, one owner, just turned 8 months old. Was on pitch for 22999, got it for 19000 after a bit of month end figure talk.. wish i had asked for 18 as they bent over quite easily.. got figures to 240 per month with 0 deposit.. which can't be sniffed at!! cheap 2nd car with class... and a spare KAM number plate to go on.. perfect.. hehe..

3 cars in 3 months.. i love this finance broker stuff!!
Right anyone want a megane..

I tell you what, Kam... if this accountancy lark falls by the wayside, you can always start business as a car broker - you seem to have the magic touch mate Wink

C-class not to my taste, but cost-wise a good decision! Thumbs Up

Well.. shmoogle, to be honest.. i love doing this car stuff.. i think i am just a habitual car buying fanatic.. which im trying to put to some use and make some money off.. (got to fuel this RS4 some how!)..

My dad has given up with me, and just lets me buy/sell the families cars as i please now.. i tried to run a nissan navara pickup by him when we came back from the motorshow, as a do it all vehicle good for the tip/load lugging/off roading/ramming things etc.. but he wouldn't have any of it.. oh well.. guess i'll just have to use the c class for the tip now!

Just doing a couple more of these Rs4 finance deals for some other guys about to take delivery.. kinda fits into the whole accountancy/finance side of things.. trying to build it into the offering of services for our clients and forum friends of course!

Hey mate

Very nice. Sounds like a bit of a bargain too. The later model C class is meant to be a pretty good car.

Having first hand experience of Kam's car financing skills I would recommend him 150%!!
