Rear shock absorbers

Had a shock absorber fail on my RRS. Symptoms of a bouncy rear corner, especially noticeable going over speed bumps.

After reading up the instructions for changing shocker absorbers for a Disco 3, I bought a pair of genuine shocker absorbers. Got the suspension leg off the vehicle but couldn't get the air bag to separate from the shock absorber. Appears the RRS has an additional seal to the Disco 3 between the air bag and shock. Possibly where the shock has failed it has overheated the rubber seal.

Bought a complete suspension leg in the end, complete with air bag. Fitted it in 30 mins.

Advice: if a shock absorber starts to go, get it changed as soon as!

I have the original leg if anyone wants it for free. Shock absorber is no good but air bag is in good condition if it can be separated from the shock.

Technically, it's a damper, not a shock absorber. The air spring is the shock absorber (just as the the steel spring is on a normal vehicle).

Sorry, just one of those things that annoys me.

Glad you got the problem sorted Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
