Australia 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey
20 inch tyre sizes

Hi,
Just about to update my 2008 RRS to a current (2013) model, equipped with 275 / 40 / 20 inch rims and Continental tyres

As an off road tyre I suspect they may be next to useless. Has anyone any experience in alternatives. I am thinking of of PIrelli ATR's (fitted to my current RRS) and I have been quite happy with them. The size available is 275 / 55/ 20 which I assume will fit OK although speedometer may be a little inaccurate.

Advice appreciated.

Lew

The General Grabber AT is available in 275/40/20 which might be a better choice not least because it'll definitely fit and has good reviews (in the UK anyway). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Grabber AT also available in 275/45 20 which is the size I currently have on my 2012 RRS but in General GT which is a road based tyre. Car has been to dealer a couple of times and no issues with tyre size. Speedo also seems more accurate now if the non penalty speed monitors are anything to go by. 12MY RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra / Black + contrast/ Grand Black
2010 Disco4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Nara Bronze - Missed very much
2008 Disco3 2.7 TDV6 XS Stornoway - Now gone

Thanks so much for the replies.

I just spoke with a owner here in my home town who fitted Cooper Zeon's to his RRS in 55 series with no problems with no problems with fitment.

So, I'm tossing up between the General Grabber, Cooper Zeon's and Pirelli ATR's. as well as which profile.

Of course, the other issue is that the spare is JLR's psuedo 19" wheel with the same rolling diameter as the 20" / 40 profile. I'm seriously considering scrapping that and buying a wheel that matches the vehicle and having all 5 of the same size / profile. Problem is, I've still to find out whether I can match the wheels and will the replacement full sise 20" wheel fit the wheel well. Can anyone confirm this?

Whilst I have owned Range Rovers for well over 30 years (first one purchaed in 1977) and think that the Sport is a great car (my 2008 performed faultlessly - fingers crossed the new one does as well), the decision by JLR to confuse the road / spare wheel configuration does beggar belief. These are serious FWD's, but to travel outback Australia with the factory delivered combination of wheels / tyres / spare is not ideal.

Thanks again for the help - very much appreciated.

Lew.

I would look at 19" tyres for off road use - the 20" are rubbish Sad

Many owners keep the 20's for road and have a set of 19's for off road in 55 profile like the G4 or run a set of 19/50 profile all the time Thumbs Up

Any deviation from profile may raise warranty issues and in uk would be questionable in the event of an accident Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Changing profiles not a problem here regarding insurance but warranty another story. Awaiting the dealer's response but I suspect I already know the answer......

Looking very much like a second set of rims / tyres is on the cards... Crying or Very sad
