Shocked `The last Range Rover Sport was also a dual-purpose vehicle. It worked in Wilmslow just as well as it worked in Alderley Edge. It suited both footballers and their wives. You could use it to distribute pharmaceuticals during the day, and then in the evening it was a stable gun platform should a drive-by shooting be necessary.`

I can't stand that guy......anyone that believes he's a real motoring journalist is an absolute fool.

Would you ever contemplate buying a car based on what Clarkson says? I wouldn't....he's a Censored Ra-Ro Sport Super Dooper Charged.

'Critics' & 'reviewers' rely on other people's achievements/disasters to make a living, very much like a parasite.

I find JC relatively entertaining on TG but wouldn't take any 'review' by him to be relevant to me, add to that he's from my neck of the woods and I definitely wouldn't take notice!

A bit too much style over substance for my liking but then that is his MO.

It would have been nice to see some mention of reliability, build quality etc.

However, given the fact that all three Top Gear presenters are supposed to be fans of the FullFat RR and they use them exclusively as camera platforms for filming, I guess there must be some self interest in not mentioning the opinion held in many quarters that LR have some quality, reliability and support issues. --------------------------------------------------------

i remember him doing a review on the original sport and im sure he liked it.

I dont think the review said too much and didnt really have anything to back it up.

I like JC generally - certainly on top gear - but i felt i wasted part of my life reading that. Mike

It's entertainment rather than a review, most of his pieces on cars are just like that , 10 paragraphs of anecdotal silliness and the last one usually sums up the car(although I don't know we're he got the fact that they are bought by Garys, most popular name on here I think is Dave Laughing )
I like his columns , especially the non car, non PC ones! I wouldn't ever go by a critics review on a car, if I did I would never have bought some of the cars I've owned!

Cheers

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Cairns Blue

Having spent the day with female DP at Guy Salmon, who is a proper petrol head, the new Superchsrged is a stunning car. She had just completed the introduction course at Gaydon I believe. The SDV8 will come with new 9 speed and at 400 odd kgs less than old model sometime early next year. Am promised a try in supercharged when she gets her demo. Bow down 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Good point, I remember that, done a feature with a tank didn't he and said the RRS was very good. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

Yes i remember the Tank video...here it is i think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot6dL2mlO7c

Problem with the SDv8 even with a 9 speed is going to be seriously more cash than the already inflated costs.

After just putting my sport in 3 parking bays during work meetings today...each were almost the car width currently - the thought of it any wider is worrying Mike

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

According to the Bank of England's inflation calculator, the £38000 in 2004 is now worth £49407, £58000 is now £75411

The new basic SE is £51550 and the S/C is £81550. So the basic prices have increased a bit but then the technology in them is a bit higher spec too (at least in the S/C, anyway).

http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/education/P...fault.aspx 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
