London to Paris....on a bike - Updated: Now with write up!

Well I'm calling on the RRSport members, as in just over 2 months time, I will be taking part in a rather challenging charity cycle ride for SCOPE which will entail me riding from London to Paris (280 miles) in 24 hours Thud

It's a brutal challenge, but one I am intent on completing in the allotted time. SCOPE are a fantastic charity and I have already raised in excess of £2,500 for them when I cycled from London to Amsterdam 18 months ago, albeit that was in a more leisurely 48 hours Laughing

Anything that you are able to donate would be very much appreciated. I know times are tough and I understand most people don't know me from Adam, but hopefully I've shown that I'm a decent chap (no comments from you Ady Whistle ). Incidently, I have actually paid the costs of the ride myself, so ALL funds raised will go to SCOPE and not to fund this challenge.

If you are able to donate and help in any way, please click here and any amount no matter how small would be fantastic. Bow down

Many thanks in advance Thumbs Up

ps: I've spoken with Martin and he's happy for me to post this on here, so thanks for that Martin. Cool ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Been building up the miles since January, done a fair few 75+ mile rides already, now need to start hitting 150 miles per week. Came off on the ice a couple of weeks ago which hampered training a little, but just started back yesterday on the bike as I tore an adductor Sad But intensive Physio seems to have it on the mend.

Will carb load in the week before the ride, then it's a case of making sure I keep the calories on board during the ride. I recon I'll do between 12,000-15,000 over the 24 hours Shocked , so eating regularly is the key. It's broken into 30-40 mile sections, so you get around 10 mins to top up the water, grab some food and then head off again.

No kinky stuff the night before Question Shocked ....hope Mrs Bean doesn't read that......was looking forward to that bit Laughing ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Good luck BC, done a few miles on the bike myself lately and I really suffer with the lower back after about 3 hours. I'd advise lots of ibuprofen in the bag.
It's a massive thing to do and unless youv'e ever done an endurance cycle ride you can't imagine what it is like, total respect mate and good luck. (get some pics on here after) Spud Smile
