Debating on purchase of RRS

Hello Everyone,

I am writing to you from Denver, CO USA. I currently lease an Audi A4 and although I am not a LR owner (at least not yet); I have always liked going off-road. We have some amazing 4x4 trails here; and I have been privileged to explorer them in a 2001 Range Rover and I have to admit, it was really neat to see what the 2001 Range Rover can do. As a result I got the off-road and 4x4 trail bug in me!! Very Happy My lease on my Audi ends this December and as a result I have decided to search for a SUV. I am currently interested in the new RRS along with the LR3 and Volkswagen Touareg. I have yet to test drive these vehicles (which will be soon) but I thought I ask from current and past owners of LR's their opinions and feelings. I have noticed some little things that have changed on the new LR’s since Ford bought it, and I was curious to know if you guys had any feedback on those changes. For example; the air suspension only has 3 heights now as opposed to 4 as before, there is no WB channels and Jaguar engines (curious to know their reliability so far)? Any feedback you guys could provide that would be awesome, not only on off-road and its performance but on daily use as well!! Smile

Thanks!!

Simply put if you want to go offroad you can forget the T'reg. The LR3 and RRS are miles and miles ahead of it. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Daily use... fuel consumption of RRS S/C makes me sick... but still i like it. I was able to do some nice driving with my friend's new 997 carrera... we were doing more then 230 km/h (140 mph) and rrs's handling was very nice at that speeds. 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500

I owned the Touareg for a year and although I really like the look (internal and external) its offroad ability is really only good for light green laning. Also, dont believe the Treg is any more reliable than a RRS - just spend some time searching the mytouareg (UK) and tregcentral (US) and you will find many probs with the Treg

As others have said if you want to go off road forget the Treg. Then it'll all down to personal choice- do you prefer the RRS or LR3? They are both the same car underneath, so you can just decide which you prefer. 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

+1

My friend has gearbox changed 3 (!) times on his treg V8 4.2 in just 35.000 km (~20.000 miles)... And each time he had to wait more then a month... 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500

Erstwhile member Biggles should be able to offer an opinion - he jumped ship to the Toerag to get away from the unreliability of his RRS. Has to be said though.... your mileage may vary, as I believe they say.
