I know how you feel and share your thoughts

We had a great old girl called Sasha who got to 10 and then her poor old legs could not vene get her off the floor

I carried her out to garden to go to toilet and with a dead weight 8 stone Rottie that was not easy

Had her out to sleep a year ago and miss her like hell - best dogs ever and she was the 2nd Rottie we had

Beautiful and proud and I could tell from her eyes she knotweed the time had come

Now have 2 miniature Schnauzers who are great little characters

Rest in peace Katey “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”

really sorry to hear of your news.

an oft used poem, but one that is apt I feel....

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent. Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress her beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry to hear about Katie Sad

I've just got bad news about Zac, hence the picture in my avatar, he has had a good life but has suffered from epilepsy for a few years and just found out he has heart disease, lots of tests and they have given him a load more tablets to hopefully prolong his life, but that's all dependant on them working so we don't know if he has a few weeks or more left.

His not even my dog, his my brothers, but I've had him in my life all this time too, it's a terrible feeling, but sometimes you know what's best even though it's going to be a hardest of things to do

It's a tough thing to do but you'll look back and know it was the right thing to do for her.
My neighbours lost their Rottweiler to cancer last year, they hung on with Jake as long as they could but sadly the time comes where you've got to do the right thing.

RIP Katie

Sorry to hear. Had to put our cat of 17 yrs down just before Christmas, feel for you. All that time to prepare just isn't enough.
Think of the good times, she'll be more comfortable too Wink

You have my sympathies. We had to have our last two collies put down (thankfully due to age-related issues rather than at a younger age) and it was heartbreaking. I've yet to cry at a funeral but I blubbed like a child when each of the dogs were done.

I hate to think what I'll be like when the spaniel goes as I've had him since he was a pup - the collies were both adult rescues and both were terrible losses.

There will be a hole in your life and you will find yourself turning around looking for her but it passes and then you are left with the memories. And you move on and get a new dog and joy returns.

Requiescat in pace et in amore 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Terrible news - accept my condolences. She is probably suffering now, so it is really for the best. I hope your family will recover sooner than later. Getting another puppy may help.

Stay strong Vadim A.

Very sad to read this Ken - had my Lab put down just over a year ago and know how hard it is Sad

Took 6 months considering if we should get another dog but now have 2 and although things are not the same the place feels more like our home again with them than it did without a dog Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Very courageous decision Ken, you have my utmost respect for putting her welfare first instead of your pain. It will hurt but you are doing completely the right thing as she relies on you not to suffer.
