Fuel burning heater not starting

Hi all

Have noticed that my fuel burning heater does not start up anymore.

Previously it worked fine and I have no error messages on the dash, I thought it didn't kick in the other morning so today I opened the bonnet before starting and even at -3 it does nothing. 3/4 tank fuel so that's not the issue

Any checks or reset procedures I can try?

Also when I tried to close bonnet the catches hadn't reset so hot water, wd40 and a screwdriver to manipulate the catch were in order to get it moving properly

Cheers all TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten

I could understand this if I had the remote pre heater, but mine is just the standard one that helps the engine to warm up quicker once started.

Surely the heater isn't looking for voltage until the engine starts at which point the alternator is supplying power so it should be able to start? If not does any one know what the minimum voltage the heater is looking for before it kicks in?

I have no problems starting the car or any of the normal low battery signs TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten

Just found THIS guide on the D3 site and it suggests anything below 10.25v will stop it but also it goes into lockout after three failed starts.

So will pull fuse 28 to reset it and check battery voltage and see what happens tomorrow as I have just been out so engine will already be warm now TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten

Update

So this morning I pulled out fuse 28 and left it out for about 20 mins to ensure car had gone to sleep.

Tested voltage on battery at rest 11.77V so well within range.

Put fuse back in and started car. Still no joy

Any more suggestions or am I facing a dealer visit to plug it in and read the codes? TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten

Should pulling the fuse out and leaving it for a short period of time before putting it back in be enough to reset the unit? Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

There's two elements to this issue really.
One is the locked out FBH and the other is old fuel in a previously locked out FBH.

When I do FBH resets for people it consists of

Fuel purge and test
Reset error codes
Run FBH sequence test.

It takes about 20 minutes to do both. The result is always a load of diesel smoke and that lovely familiar diesel FBH smell Mr. Green Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Well I have just read all 24 pages of THIS thread on Disco3. Based on that thread I have just ordered the parts off ebay to make up the Webasto diagnostic lead to hopefully clear the lock myself. Total spend £11 so if it doesn't clear its not a huge gamble

The Webasto software with the right cable works really really well! You shouldn't have a problem running and purging and unlocking it. Quite good fun getting neighbours ready to call the fire brigade with the smoke you'll generate Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible
