Spare Key Question

I have just got my second key for my 55 reg sport and it seems to have no battery power. I can unlock the car with it (using the key holes) and it will start the car etc but the central locking will not work. A friend of mine said that it may possibly charge itself up if i leave it in the ignition for a while but this doesnt seem to have worked. Just wondering if I'm likely to need a new battery and how easy it is to get into the remote!?!

Also my car is a 2.7 V6 and it seems to be running fine, the only issue i have is when driving between 10-30mph (especially up hills) it seems to struggle quite a bit and the engine gets quite loud the more i put my foot down! Is this normal as I have read quite a lot about the 2.7 being quite sluggish, or is there anything you guys can recommend i look at??

cheers

Sluggishnissue may be a faulty egr valve. Does it surge when you hit just over 2,000 revs?

Or if loads of black smoke out the back, then a split intercooler hose is favourite.
Need fault codes read really.

Does your other key work the remote ok? If so, then just a battery needing charging as yu say. If not, then there is a wire that corrodes for the remote sensor. Passenger side istr. Bodsys Brake Bible

yeh i was thinking egr valves, it seems ok once you get to 2000 revs but theres no black smoke etc and no fault codes on the dash

the other key works fine so i was just wondering if its a new battery i need in the spare key

Egrs Sounds like it. Yu can tape one key onto the othe and use the working one. They should both charge up then Thumbs Up

Or if it's fubared, then change the battery if you can Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible
