suspension fault and uneven rear tyre wear

hiya
ive had a prorblem with my rear tyres total wear out (if thats the right phrase ) on the inside right down to puncture! new tyres now on rear but as i walked towards it today in the car park the rear wheels do look like they flare/lean out causing the wear.... i have 22" khan alloys on there and not sure what i should do ... whenever i ask range rover anything they say i have the wrong size alloys and i should deal with khan.... they did this when it used to clunk when it went rounf corners too!!! any advice would be hugely appreciated so i dont come across as a total blonde when i speak to range rover again ..... also i keep getting the suspension fault light come on but only since the rear tyres were change .. any ideas

Could you refit your standard wheels and try them to see if the symptoms are there? Mike

Hiya
Only had the suspension fault since we changed the tyres the 22" rims have been on for 5 years and haven't had that fault show before so I don't think it's the fact that I have them... I've been told the inner tyre wear is a common problem but what I'm trying to find out is why so I can try and suggest what to do to the dealership as they just shrug and say see Kahn about it or "put the 20" back on" Sad

Hey Tiggybelle

Why dont you send Martin a PM his user name is "khandesign" He works for Khan and is the most helpful guy. If you dont get a response I have a contact number for him.

Hope you get to the root of the issue

Do you have an extended warranty? If you do it would it be worth putting the standard wheels on then if it persists taking it in to dealers? Smile

hello Tiggybelle
May be worth getting 4 wheel alignment,
Apparently rrs do tend to wear the rears on the inner edge slightly more than the outer.
I am having my 20' aligned due to excessive inner wear on one of my rears.
If you go to a good 4 wheel alignment place they will be able to advise, befor any work is carried out.
Ps where in the world are you? Dealers are not always that helpful, some specialists are far cheaper and better, someone may be able to recommend one locally.

Hi All
I have the same problem with inside rear tyre wear. Ive just spoken to the local tyre specialist who inform me that they will have to reset the ECU with new data after they have done the alinement's as it will throw up faults on the ABs,steering & suspension.

Any idea's if this is right?

Many thanks

Jules

I don't claim to be an expert either but when I had mine four wheel aligned I was not aware of any ECU reset or anything ike that done as part of the process. I would ask them why they think they need to do this - or potentially phone around somewhere else and see if they say the same thing.

Remember, as per previous threads, you need to make sure they have good four wheel alignment (Hunter Hawke or the like) to make sure it is done properly as I believe the RRS is very sensitive to these things. I had mine done in an F1 autocentre and was very pleased with the result as it cured my steering wheel shake.

Good luck,

Hello jules
The rrs can be troublesome due to self levelling. The easiest way round is to align with the engine running. The rrs does not need the ecu reset, but if the alignment is set up incorrectly due to the vehicle not been at the correct height. You. Can find the stability control kicks in more than it should.
