Range Rover Sport Subwoofer Build Underway !

So, those of you who have heard the terrible subwoofer in the range rover surely know it needs a upgrade. The harmon Kardon logic 7 sounds crystal clear but the subwoofer sucks.

So I'm removing the stuff from my mercedes and installing it in the range. I will be putting a more heavy system in the mercedes while my current stuff will do the job for the range. So heres how its going..

Amplifier:

500W x 1 RMS @ 4 Ohm bridged
750W x 1 RMS @ 2 Ohm bridged / 1500W MAXIMUM POWER

THD <0>98db
T.D.O.S. Amplifier Protection Circuitry
O.P.S. Oversized Power Supply
200MV – 6V Ready Pre-Amp Input Stage
Ultra Low THD Audiophile Components
High Density Cast Aluminium Heatsink Body
Thermally Efficient Heatsink Coating
50-250hz Variable Low-Pass Crossover
15-50hz Variable Sub Sonic Filter
Line output for daisy chain amplifier applications

Subwoofer:

Dimensions - H x W x D: 43.5x46.5x40cm
Frequency Response: 20Hz-850Hz
Impedance: 4ohm
Peak Power: 1500w
RMS Power: 500w
Sensitivity: 92dB
Size: Slick 15"
Type: Sub Enclosure

Yes the two things above are not the best, they are cheap. But they still do the job, shake your car up, and give you a clean sound. Obviously its nothing compared to the more real stuff.

Perfect place to install the amp is under the seat. Hides away all the wires and does not take boot space. Also you can access it easily by just pulling the seat up

Rooting the power cable to the front. Tucking away the wire deep inside the plastic.

A closer picture to the front near the pedals, the wire will go into the firewall to the engine bay, where obviously it will connect to the battery

Also I installed those tv screens myself Smile

The build is not finished yet so watch out for other pictures. Will also upload a video of how it looks finally and also how it sounds.

Very Happy

What do you guys think, anything I should do diffrently or anything else I should add in?

If it didn't look like a big ugly box in the boot,it would be a good upgrade Shocked

Might sound better but needs to be built in and hidden for my taste Thumbs Up

I'm with npinks.

Love the comment about putting the amp under the seat which saves room in the boot. And then a blinking great box of a speaker is put in there.

Is it not possible to get a sub that would also go under the seat or perhaps under the boot floor in place of the tool tray? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

@adam. you use a high to low converter and splice into the wires already going to the factory sub and connect your converter. it just uses a bunch off resistors to just give you the rca output you want instead of the amplified signal. as for the remote wire, just use the ciggy lighter Wink

yeah i have seen a lot of people fiberglassing there own custom enclosures and putting it in the boot floor but thats to much for me. i just wanted extra bass and dont mind the space its taking. Not like its screwed in I can just pull it out when i need the extra space.

and believe me, the box is a mouse compared to the proper bass enclosures out there! i guess it just comes down to personal taste

Ahh thats clever! Some car audio shop told me its £500 for a digital box that converts the signal! I politely passed on that one. WINNER - 2009 Best in Class Range Rover Sport Award

To be honest, i think the standard stereo is more than adequate for the sport. Its not the sort of motor you usually see driving around town centres with its windows thumping away.
