Park brake fault - please help

Hello gents

Sorry for the post if previously covered (I have not found it yet)
I picked up my Range rover sport late 2007 on Tuesday, gave it a good scrub and polish today
When I went to park it, I applied the park brake, it went with a few creaks and bang followed by park brake fault and Christmas tree lights on the dash

Something's broken

I know, prior to me picking up car the car was serviced by an independent, new brake pads front and rear fitted along with an MoT......

Am I correct to suggest that after fitting new brake pads the electronic handbrake has to be adjusted ?

Is the hand brake shoes inboard of the brake disc as an independent system ???

If the fault is present is the handbrake off and car safe to drive or is it a tow truck issue

I have been in touch with the supplying dealer, however advice would be appreciated and greatly received Sad Sad Sad Izmir Blue TDV8

Had something similar a couple of times on my 09 RRS.
If the EPB is stuck on it can be manually released using the hook device found in the tool kit by the jack. The difficulty is accessing the cable loop in the centre console. To get at it you need to pull off the gear knob. It’s not easy you need to be determined. Then the console top cover has to be eased off. In there you will find a wire loop. Catch it with the tool and give it a good hard pull. This will release it.
Sorry I don’t know how to fix it though.
Good luck.

Many thanks for reply Hugh

As it is the park brake is not applied.
From reading threads via google on different forums, they read as if it's a problem with the Electronic Park brake actuator ????
Didn't think the car would be back in the garage so soon ......... Big Cry
I shall try and get it booked in tomorrow..... Izmir Blue TDV8

@ Worried, I have a similar problem with my 57 plate RRs tdv8. No screeching noises but the EPB warning light comes on intermitently. Let us know how you get on with yours.

Hi,

I have an EPB fault comes up on my 10MY TDV8. I've checked the EPB works manually, on and off - all OK. I've used hill asssist - all OK , I've tried the "Emergency function" - all OK. Have noticed it only comes up when the car has been parked for a "period" (6-8hrs +). Have now found out (phone call to friendly dealer) that it can be caused by low battery voltage when cranking the engine over. Confirmed this by using diagnostic mode on the centre screen (code 753) and found the voltage drops to 10.7 volts after an overnight stand or after work. Car is going into Main Stealers on Tuesday morning for a new battery - hopefully that will sort it.

I know this won't help someone with a duff actuator - but it might help some others.

Update

Car is booked in on 17th for warranty repair
I believe the diagnosis starts with a rear brake strip down, calipers and disc removed, to see whats what
when the Parking brake is applied, the actuator can be heard working ???
Though light and fault appear on the dash.

I think it's actuator related, shall wait for the bill and better advise ...........
