I recognise the words as being English but the way they're put together makes little sense... Whistle 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

My alarm has a shockingly low sound. I think It's either swap the siren for an aftermarket one, wire it so the horn goes off aswell or fit a whole new aftermarket one.

I thought (as per Disco 3) just by unplugging the alarm siren, the system automatically defaults to the horn...?

Edit:

yes this works on the D3 so I'm sure pre 2010 cars will have the same effect. RRS gone

Well that's good to know. Any know where the siren is? Doubt id be able to find it even if I set it off lol. On another note, if u pull the grill off, on the n/s there is a plastic cover. Behind this there is some sort of sensor. Any idea what it is? Mines hanging off

Cheers

Sounder is near the brake pipes ABS unit. It is a black box with VOLVO written on it ISTR. Just disconnect (easier said that done) the connector and it will revert to your normal Horn. Bodsys Brake Bible

Here's how to make the alarm system use the horns not the battery back up sounder.

This guide is for a RHD D3 for LHD everything is on the other side of the D3

1. open the bonnet and open the left hand box

2. Locate the alarm sounder, its just behind the ABS module and to the left of the brake servo (It has volvo on it)

3. On the alarm sounder there's a plug with three wires coming from it. You need to disconnect this It is fiddley and I used a small flat blade screwdriver to remove it. Then just tuck it away.

4. Once you have done the above the alarm system defaults to the horns.
To test lock the car give it 30 secs and then open the passengers door manually with the key this will set the alarm off. RRS gone
