Noticing more smoke out of car

Gents,

I'm not sure if I'm seeing things that don't exist but over the last few days I've noticed a higher level of exhaust smoke coming out of the car when under throttle (not cruising). its not excessive but I've also noticed the exhaust tips blackening up also. When under load the rear of my car seems to leave a bit of a mist so its not plumes of dark Censored but it is a little noticeable in the rear view mirror.

Could this be a fuel issue or something I need to be more concerned about?

If you aren't experiencing power loss I don't think it's the EGR's. The power loss is very noticeable.

Smoke can be anything from a clogged up Diesel filter to a split intercooler pipe. I remember reading somewhere that light/white smoke is a sign that the engine isn't operating at a high enough temp.

I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge on the matter will be along soon! LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

I haven't had the problem on either of my RRS's but did on my E320 cdi and the symptoms on that was lots of smoke on acceleration but no noticeable loss of power. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Through my experience with Shogun and my sport it was egr valves on rangey one ended up failing completely. Lost all power on acceleration. Noticed smoke more at night in mirror for some reason when accelerating hard.

Oh wellI knew it,

Had to take the car in this morning to Lookers in Manchester as the car broke down on the M61 last night.

Dark smoke out the back end followed by lack of power and then limp mode kicked in.

I re-set the alarm so was able to get home but looks like new EGR valves I suspect so will hear later once they've had a look at it. Big Cry Big Cry TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

Sorry to hear that Sherlock, keep us updated though mate.

I had my EGR's replaced under warranty last week, the smoke problem went away for a couple of days but is back now and car is throwing it out the back.

Hope you get sorted Thumbs Up LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

Not a clue mate, it only happens under heavy acceleration or full throttle so when pulling away from a roundabout or up a hill.

It's due back in to LR this week to be checked out, either that or I am driving it off a cliff Twisted Evil LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.
