United States 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red
Rear Entertainment Issues

I just got a rimini Red RRS Supercharged, North American Spec and I cant get the DVD to work. Ive loaded DVDS in the trunk loader but cant get the uint started either from the head unit or the supplied remote control. I get a blue screen with "DVD ERROR" in white letters for my effort. Ive tried changing the dvds and even tried vcds but to no avail. I managed to get a picture and sound from the headphone jack using a video ipod connected to the rear aux inputs.

Could it be possible that the loader is somewhat not properly connected? It poweres on and accepts and ejects the cartridge but thats as far ai i got.

Hey there,

If you bought your car from the U.S. you are probably running a Zone 1 DVD player, and zone 2 DVDs won't work on that as I had the issue before.

Is that your problem ?

By the way, you live right next to my country (Niger) and I have driven to Kano before from Zinder, hope you will have fun with your RRS over there; mine will touch african soil only in about 3 to 4 years, snif.... RRS HSE, Buckingham Blue , Ivory/Aspen Interior, Luxury Package (Cherry Wood, Cooler Box, etc...), RSE, SIRIUS, PTI, Tasmod Sill Plates

Thanks Isma,
I;ll try and get some region 1 dvds to try, but does this mean the supplied changer doesnt play vcd's?

Hey ive been to Niger twice!! I've never been to Niamey but ive been to Zinder, and as far north as Agades( beautifull place) and Arlit where the uranium is mined. last time a bunch of us went to Agades uisng two US spec 04 Ford Explorers and a Hummer H2. Were thinking of going back this year..

The RRS is a great car! Got it only about a month ago and its been superb. I was a bit worried about the 40 section tyres on some of the more rutted roads but the ride is so smooth its unbelivable. 2007 Rimini Red RRS SC, The works!

Have you tried loading a regular CD instead of a DVD in the changer? If it plays, then your problem is most likely incompatible region between your changer and the DVDs you are attempting to play, like Isma mentioned in the previous post. If the CD won't play either, perhaps you are loading the discs upside down (not funny, the loader does not make it very clear which way they should go). If the error remains even after you flip discs, go see your dealer. Something is wrong with your DVD changer.

MY DVD player recently stopped working. Turns out a fibreoptic cable had come loose which blew a fuse, when re-connected, everything nows works fine.

Hey Kitkat,

the supplied DVD changer DOES play VCDs. I have just tried a Nigeria-made VCD (2face Idibia) just to make sure they work in the RRS (and I'm sure they are the ones you will be using considering the few Nairas they cost), it works just fine in mine.

I think your changer has a problem or like Umbertob said you are putting DVDs/VCDs upside down in the charger...

I hope it's not a big deal, let us know.

Well folks i tried everything without much success. CDs VCDs the works. I think theres a cable not connected. The DVD changer powers on and loads and ejects the cartridge , but it doesnt seem to be connected to the head unit as the dvd functions are all blanked out and the " DVD ERROR" message on a blue screen ia all i get.

Hey bishman whereabouts is the cable youre talking about located? Maybe i cd trace it and simply plug it back in. I dont even wanna try locating a dealer here as that would be wishfull thinking. 2007 Rimini Red RRS SC, The works!

Kitkat, this surely comes too late for you, but this Tech Bulletin has just become available on LR's North America GTR, probably addressing your problem. Scroll to the last page of the bulletin for "DVD Error" message and related troubleshooting...
