Australia 2013 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Fuji White
Took the plunge...

I've been a bit of a lurcher of this forum for a couple of years now and was close to buying an RRS a year or so ago, but opted instead for a 2003 Porsche Cayenne S.

It's been a great car, but the lure of the RRS has remained and last weekend I took the plung!

A massive upgrade (financially from the Porker), I saw a mint MY2010 (2009) 3.0 TDV6 with only 20k km and couldn't resist.

As new condition with lots of options (s/roof, keyless, ADHS, tow pack, privacy glass, paddle shift, memory pack...) in Stornoway.

Pick it up in the morning and hoping it will be a great and reliable car.

I believe the new car warranty is soon to expire and am seriously considering buying an extended one based on lots of threads read on this forum about issues which may be encountered... although this example has very low mileage (previous owner was apparently a commercial pilot).

Any comments welcome. Looking forward to the pickup Very Happy

Cheers

Enjoy! Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

How was your experience with the Cayenne S?

I've been looking at these aswell as RRS' recently, talking myself out of the Porsche though because they're pretty ugly, but I still kind of like them. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

Previous: Mercedes CLS, BMW 330cd M sport, Nissan 200sx, Impreza STi, EP3 Civic Type R

Thanks for your replies guys, as requested a couple of pics below from a drive out to the Dandenong National Park on Sunday Smile

And another...

It was great fun and a really easy drive. I think I'll look into taking it to the Otways National Park in the summer!

Re: the Cayenne, it was a great car but I've always hankered after an RRS.

It's only fare to compare it to a similar model year, of which I had a 4.4 RRS for a weekend prior to purchasing it and can honestly say it was like chalk and cheese.

I found the Cayenne a much more responsive and involving car to drive and for the same model year, the interior was much more modern IMHO. It had the big navigation screen in the centre etc. Although I had a love/hate relationship with it depending on what angle I was looking at it from!

It's a very quick car, but here in Aus there's not a lot you can do with it, so I can't say I miss it (although the new RRS seems more than adequate).

The MY10 RRS is the above in reverse, making the 2003 Cayenne feel old and tired. The MY10 really is a lovely car in and out and I'm loving it.

Cheers[/img]

totally agree the Sport is more than capable of handling the Aussie on and off road requirements speed wise, just trying to enjoy yourself in OZ by planting the right foot is akin to a "serious crime" if you listen to all the government/plod propaganda. Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
