Wheel weightings

Hi all I'm new to all this.
I am looking to buy a set 22's for my RRS.
. I have read on various posts that I should be looking for weight ratings of 1000kg per wheel. Since I'm looking for second hand wheels, is there any way of knowing what the rating is on a wheel, I.e stamp markings etc.?

Yes it will be stamped on the inside of the wheel, if it isn't, then don't buy them, RRS need to be 950kg minimum per wheel, overfinch and kahn are 1050kg per wheel i think, there are a lot of 22" wheels out there that are only 850kg per wheel which is dangerous on a RRS.

Don't believe a word of the top line of this post, i was fed some billybullshit and is incorrect Whistle The correct weight load for a RRS 20" wheel is 860kg Embarassed Thumbs Up

seen genuine LR 20's rated as 925kgs..

but agree... 950 minimum for 22's if possible, any less and you risk failure RRS gone

Where did you get this from?

I believe mine are genuine wheels and stamped "only" 860kg each:

I think up to 20" the weight rating is less critical due to the larger tyre wall cushion effect.

It's when you get to 22" you need more strength RRS gone

I understand the point you are making but I don't think any of the wheel manufacturers quote dynamic loadings - it would have to be a different figure per tyre/wheel combination. I don't think there is a linear relationship either between static loading rates and dynamic loadings.

Ady - didn't want to contradict you just for the sake of it - just sharing info off my car...they well may be fakes Shocked

Hi Supacat

I had 850kg rated 22's on mine when I bought it..and distroyed 3 in as many months

The new ones are 950kg rated and so far so good.

Any kind of impact (pot hole, tarmac ridge) on a 22" alloy that is rated less than 900kg is just a matter of "when is it going to fail" not "is it going to fail" imho of course

The 20's offer more protection to point impact and maybe this is why yours are lower rated... or they may be very good fakes Laughing RRS gone
