Your best bet is to goto a local specialist and listen to some.
The prices can range from a couple if hundred for a budget system to a good few thousand.
I've got an onkyo receiver(got it cheap thru my work) and kef surround system, I'm currently looking to expand it to 7.2 Very Happy

Sound advice Ballsy (bad da boom, tish Laughing )

Chris get yourself down to a local specialist, it's a minefield out there and depending on your ability to hear things, you could be wasting your money on something over spec'd. Likewise, something cheaper might not give you what you desire.

Listening to the options available is the only way to decide yourself (with the guidance of the staff too). Placement of speakers also has a big impact, so it's worth doing it properly IMO. Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Good advice from Beancounter, go and listen to diffrent systems and if you can listen to it at where you are going to install it as the room at the dealer will not be the same as your room at home.
My first system was for a room that was 24ft x 12ft and it sounded great, I moved to another house and tho the volume of the room was the same the layout was diffrent and it sounded terrible. Now in this house I have a dedicated cinema room and love to watch films in there.
system is:
Pioneer SC-LX90 Amp
Pioneer projector
Oppo BDP80 bluray (plays anything I have thrown at it)
PMC OB1i main speakers, CB1i center, GB1i rears
REL Sub
Wires are run in the cellar to the front.
Screen is 3meters wide

No disrespect to Richer Sounds, but their a bit more mainstream than specialist.I've always found a lot of their gear to be a bit outdated, plus they dont seem to stock much.

Agree with Steve, Try and find a specialist, Richer Sounds is great for somethingq 'cheap and cheerful' but not if you want something a little more serious.

Richer Sounds are very good at what they do, selling things cheaper than 'specialists'

Unless you need the very latest unit, then richer sounds could be a good option, they often sell last years what hifi winners, back up and warranty seems ok too

Advice wise, they have good and bad
