Offroad screen on TV/Sat Nav - question about e-diffs, etc?

I test drove an RR Sport at the weekend and was testing all the various electronic and offroad settings worked as they should.

When in rock crawl mode it showed the centre diff was locked as it should, but also had an image showing the rear diff as open - does this mean the car has an e-diff which can be locked, or do they all shown a green unlocked rear diff regardless of whether an e-diff is fitted?

Cheers!

From the differences I have seen on a MY12 with and without the e-diff, I'd say it does have one fitted, but don't take my word for it obviously. Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Come on Sherlock, why would you want a locking rear diff, all that time and effort colour coding and detailing, you are never going to go mud plugging. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

So yours didnt show the padlock without an e-diff but does now?

I'd be surprised if it does - it's a 55-reg SE model, completely standard, so would be odd just to select the rear e-diff option, but you never know! - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)

Not my car so I definitely don't! But good to know. So how do you tell if a car does have the e-diff option fitted? - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)

Australia 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 SE Santorini Black

Only two ways to tell.

1. Go and get it bogged, put it in RockCrawl low-range and whilst looking at the 4WD screen, drive it out. If the rear diff icon changes colour, you have a rear eLocker

2. Get under the car and see if the large metal box is physically there on top of the diff.

3. Get the VIN and ask LR if it was fitted when they built the car 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Out of interest, does anyone know if the G4 Challenge RR Sports were fitted with the ediff? You would think they would be given they also have a winch on the front, but not sure! - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)
