2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Cairns Blue

Newcastle,

Who fitted your chip?

We had a problem with a TD V6 in London and it turned out to be the MAF sensor on a brand new car!!

When we took the chip off car appeared normal...we re-chipped it and the problem reappeared....we then changed the MAF sensor and all was fine again. Chips with everything

Is it a TurboChips type remap or one of the Tunit plug in dongle type. If it is the latter you should be able to unplug it and run in "standard" tune and see if you get the cloud effect.

Pardon my lack of technichal knowledge but what is a MAF sensor?
Would that be picked up on the diag machine?
The car had a diag test today and only fault found was something to do with handbreak which was fixed.
Dealer had a demo chipped at the same place and they ended up getting it unchipped as it had exact same problems
Also a mate had it done there and he has smoke only diff is that he is happy to live with it. A small amount of smoke is nothing but this was literally creating clouds on the road. Something i was not happy with.

Take it to JE. You wont find anyone that knows these cars better than JE, period.

It would appear that there are some bizarre shannanigans going off at Turbochips (see posts elsewhere). Can anyone shed any light ?

Newcastle,

Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.....it measures the amount of air coming into the engine and(in lay mans terms) this adjusts the amount of the fuel flowing through the engine.

A faulty MAF sensor will cause 'over fuelling' and can give rise to increased smoke levels james bond style Wink Chips with everything

I think to be fair to TC, any 'Shenanigans' would not affect quality of workmanship. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Only thing going on a Turbochip is that RTC wants to 'take over' the company but he has a severe case of 'short arms' and 'long pockets' and he is trying every trick in the book to take control including posting ridiculous claims on this site. Chips with everything

I wasn't intending to suggest that it would. I know that TC has umpteen very happy customers. I was just curious as to what was afoot.

TC,
You have my sympathies. I've been in a similar situation myself and it is far from pleasant. If nothing else, it is unprofessional of him to wash his dirty laundry on a public forum, especially one frequented by existing and potential customers.
