LR Extended Warranty is a bit pants really...

So I dropped the RRS off at the local stealer due to some knocking noise coming from the rear when going over bumps. Pretty certain it would just be a case of ARB bushes needed. This is the list of things they reeled off:

    Both front steering arms worn
    Rear suspension upper arm
    Rear suspension hub bushes worn
    Rear ARB corroded
    Height Sensors not working
    Front ARB bushes worn
    Front lower suspension arms worn
    OSR brake pipe corroded

Only 1 of the above is apparently covered in the Land Rover Extended Warranty (height sensors). Everything else classed as 'wear and tear'. I wasn't expecting the ARB bushes to be covered (from reading other threads on here), but all those things to be not covered is a bit annoying really.
BTW, it's an 05 RRS, but the warranty is covered until end of May 2012, and up to 102k (It's currently showing 94k).
Unless they don't actually need replacing - just 'look a bit rusty' Whistle

Does anybody have any experience with LR and getting any of the above covered in their extended warranty? RRS HSE TDV6 Autobiography

As I keep saying, there are a lot better warranties out there, the LR one is only a Car Car Plan warranty with a LR sticker on. They don't cover wear & tear, other policies, at almost half the price, do. My D3 policy would have covered all bar one or two of the above, and has actually done so. Peeps love the convenience of the LR/CCP warranty as they don't have to get out the plastic but that comes at the price of rubbish cover. Pays yer money & takes yer chance but you can do a lot better than the LR one

Unfortunately peeps both here and D3side don't realise how bad the LR one is, especially the cheaper one, til they try to use it. Lots of cars out there where the owner has not kept up with maintenance and the next owner gets hit with a big bill, often a few thousand. It's prob why the cars were chopped in the first place.

Cynic, moi?? Whistle

well I'm taking these things they said needed replacing with a pinch of salt. They said that I needed 4 tyres at £499 total.
When I came to pick it up, the desk lady showed me the print off - and the tyre depth measurements were at the bottom - 5mm each tyre. Double check on the actual car - and yes, they are perfectly fine, absolutely no need for replacements
Rolling Eyes
so I now really doubt any of the above list (apart from height sensors) actually need replacing or not... wish I had one of those hydraulic lifts in my garage to check myself RRS HSE TDV6 Autobiography

common rip-offs to be wary of:

- "you need new wipers"
- "you need new brake pads/discs"
- "you need new tyres"
- adding washer fluid at some exorbitant price

Whistle

avoid them all by going to LPR! Bow down Whistle Thumbs Up ============

I just purchased an amazing warranty yesterday from UVW and paid £600 for the most comprehensive aftermarket package I could find. It includes wear and tear plus things such as break down cover, travel costs, hotels etc. you also get a free health check from any Unipart garage.

I did compare with Warranty Direct WD and both policies were v similar although mine was £170 cheaper. I strongly recommend it as a great alternative to the LR option. TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

Ps: the policy was that executive plus package with added wear and tear and main dealer labour rates (even if car taken to a non LR dealer) limited to £200/hour. TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx
