England 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 SE Siberian Silver

codfather, I thought about some options with the badging:-
removing the SE badge from the rear
replacing SE badges with HSE
changing to RSE - but some wag would add an A!
changing to SSE or RRS...
but not really bothered, and don't think Joe Public really notice.

beancounter- thanks for tip on the wheel cleaner, but it looks like they sold out!

Welcome to the World of Siberian Silver. yes there are now two of us on here.
Im not upset at all... Its nice to see the newer model in that colour.
However, why is the H missing Whistle
IMO the colour is just amazing.

Please think about colour coding it too... It looks so much better coded.

The budget would not stretch to the letter H! - We are in a double dip recession you know!

But I've seen a letter H on ebay, so I'm saving up for it! Laughing RRS MY12 SE Siberian Silver, Ocean, Ivory and Walnut.

How are you find the SE shiny Question

I've sort of started looking and a couple of '12 plate RRS SE's have caught my eye on the LR used search at a grey one at Farnells leeds or bournville Ripon, (not spoke with James at HG LR at moment as I need the new tax year to start first)

Not really looked at what's what between the SE & HSE apart from £4000 Laughing

What functions do I get on the satnav, are they Bluetooth streaming etc ? Any cameras? Timed FBH heating etc?

At the moment I'm torn between a RRS SE, Disco4 XS or HSE or heading new/demo Freelander 2 HSE or HSE Lux

Deep down I do Smile just been saying that to the wife, but need to have a good test drive when the time comes and see what I think against a disco 4, she likes them both, won't drive either though she would occasionally drive a freelander

I am trying to work out if my rosen headrest would work as a replacement headrest to keep the kids entertained

Nick,
I'm still loving it! 16 months and almost 12K miles now. No issues to report, except the software updates required to 8 speed box and boot opening.

If you want to look at it, buy an autobigraphy... if you want to drive one save the cash and just buy an SE.
Same engine and box, brakes, drivetrain so just as quick.... I never use the S setting of the gearbox, the car adapts when required and wafts along just fine. The 19" wheels mean no kerb damage and slightly less jolty ride.

The SE entertainment/phone system is same throughout unless spec'd with the upgraded audio. You don't get TV, but its not widescreen like home anyway!!!

The SE has leather seats like the older models, whereas the HSE has premium seats, does it really matter? No.

My wife has a FL2 SE and she prefers that because its smaller. It seems quicker from standstill unless you engage all 255 horses of the RRS!! The RRS pulls much quicker when moving though, and you easily notice the extra oomph.

We use both for towing (horse trailer or tin shed) and the FL2 is a good tow car but the RRS is just so effortless.

Go test drive one... and take your cheque book Very Happy RRS MY12 SE Siberian Silver, Ocean, Ivory and Walnut.

Nick.
I had a Discovery 3 Metropolis before the RRS, and always thought I was going to replace it with a D4, test driving several but never having enough justification to take the plunge. But first time we drove the RRS was enough.
The D3/4 corners akwardly if pushed, coming out of corners you really notice the rear end weight, and very slightly longer wheelbase of the Disco with the body roll.
The RRS without dynamic/active doodah suspension is far better than any D4 at taking corners. We test drove the RRS HSE with active dynamics and you have to drive it hard to notice it working, but be prepared for the wife and kids to complain about the speed and face the consequences if you do.

Quick update

Just a quick update...

No issues or problems to report, now at 29K miles and 3 yrs & 2 months old.

Had a new windscreen middle of last year, due to stone damage... AutoGlass replaced it, but noticed a small amount of water in footwell within 24hrs, so Autoglass fitted another screen, now no water. - They said a misplaced seal can cause water to run through the heater system. Glad I noticed it immediately.

New set of 4 tyres at 27K miles, replaced a bit early as I kerbed the Left front at 50mph and split the wall, but no damage to the 19" alloy at all! Went for Goodyear F1 - pleased with these. Wet grip is noticeably better than the PZero Scorpions.

Still a fantastic car... no thoughts of replacing her. Smile

Factory fit for SE is "Dark Atlas", the LR MY12 product brief states:-

"A new tailgate finisher in Dark Atlas for SDV6 SE, Atlas for all other derivatives"

Other specifics for the SE are stated as:-

Finishes on the front of the SDV6 SE are changed to give an updated look for 12MY, details as follows:
Dark atlas grille
Gloss black grille surround
Gloss black lamp inners
Dark colour atlas tow-eye cover
Body door handles
Gloss black fender vent surround
Dark atlas fender vent mesh
Noble plated fender vent fingers
Atlas bonnet badges"

So features for the SE are in Dark Atlas which is a less shiny effect, compared to the Atlas of the HSE etc which is brighter and more reflective. RRS MY12 SE Siberian Silver, Ocean, Ivory and Walnut.
