I think I have a fooked turbo

Car been at stealers for another week still pulls to the left and steering wheel not central and new bluetooth ecu fitted so phone now works fine.
I have a noisy roller bearing in one turbo I think even tho the dealer said they couldnt find the route of the problem.
Swirswirswirswirswirswir noise.
Car has been off the road since March for 2 months in total now. Big Cry
But I still love it!! Laughing
Still got knocking steering too anyone know if theres a fix for this yet without me trailing through the list of complaints its very slight bout 20mph when turning.
Cheers. Blick with blick windows, big wheels, tow bar for nickin, side steps for the tart, DVD screens for on the go porn, 22" Stormers black and polished... as a matter of fact just about every box ticked.....if I`m going down I`m going down BIG time. Wink))

It still runs ok just got this annoying noise worse when cold engine.
Sort of disappears then but can be heard at slow speed through towns and stuff when the turbo is cooler and not workin so hard.

I have experienced a similiar problem with the steering pulling to the left and steering wheel off centre. Dealer found the alignment was out of spec as delivered from LR. Even then it took several alignment attempts with the dealer sending it to another garage in order to try different alignment equipment. Even then it still wandered to the left slightly. I have now changed the front wheels side to side and ............. problem solved. I think the original fault caused a tyre wear problem which in turn caused the car to drift to the left. This changing of the front wheels side to side, to cure this pulling problem, is commonly used by Porsche dealers and has worked for me previously.

Regarding your turbo fault. Can you give more details of this turbo noise? A bearing fault on a turbo is usually fatal for the turbo due to the high rpm involved. I had a noise from the turbo which could only be heard before/after the engine was running. This fault is present on a few TDV8 engines but there is now a software upgrade available. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Its a swirswirswirswirswirswir noise??
Gets faster and more high pitched as the engine revs rise.
They say they fitted a new water pump cos they thought it was that but no.
When I drive it first thing in the morning its at its worst,
High revs say motorway work you cant hear it.
Car is booked in 9th Jan for 15000 service and I have instructed them to sort all things out!!
Car has pulled since new and supposadly had several allignments done. I do have a printout now of the settings.
i would have assumed they would have tried swapping the wheels over but with my dealer who knows?? Birdy a few folks on here have found that "fixes" are not shared around the dealership service bays and have printed out the fixes that others on here have found have worked, I know it sounds carzy that we have to tell the dealers how to fix problems but often it is a case of handing the service manager a heap of printouts from the forum................................. The service manager at the local dealer even admitted to me that they often don't have time to be looking at the GTR website to see what the latest TSB's are, they arrive by email from LR, get printed out and filed and that's the last of it.............................. often it is us, the owners, that keep the dealer's technical dept up to date! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Birdy I recall you had a power upgrade on the car....maybe the noise has something to do with that?

I'd be very careful about posting which performance upgrades one has had done on here. You just never know which LR employee is reading and posting or how it might affect your warranty in the future. Shocked

I know that my purchasing dealer spotted my posts. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

My car is standard I never had the re-map done. Sheep
And if I had it would be an easy way of getting out of another crap item fitted to my car.
A bearing can be faulty at any time.
Nothing to do with re-maps faulty parts...I`ve had a few others. Birdy,

Did you ever get to the bottom of the noisy turbo? I have exactly the same problem and the dealer cannot throw any light on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

No I'm thinking exhaust valve, waste gate or something. done the WD40 on the belt and it makes no difference, still there.

Birdy still around? He probably has the answer if he got it sorted?
