I got a ticket in dubai off a fixed camera..
They didn't ask me for the money, they said info only, and the car was traced as registered to the hire company and they whacked the card i used to deposit the car.. Wasn't a lot.. but annoying still.. Mad

Zilch. How do you remember my run in with the oz traffic police? JFK you'll get a court summons sent by sea post, you should receive it after the court date. Happens to all our guys in Dubai aswell and they have to pay it or it just goes up. Good thing in Dubai thow you will never get banned from driving aslong as you can keep paying the fines, would not like to add up my total speeding fines in Dubai.

When I went to Oz the Immargration Officer asked me before allowing me entry if I had any convictions? I looked at him with a puzzled look and asked him if it was still a prerequisite!!!

Waste of time cancelling the card as any debts due before cancellation will be paid by the card company, and you are still legally liable.

Do you really believe credit card companies would allow a system where anyone could run up huge debts then cancel their card and pay nothing afterwards?

VA i remember it from an earlier posting some years back, and of course the "wanted" poster is on some of the notice boards at the Hunter Valley Police Station, next to Ned Kelly's Whistle Wink

Boom boom, you got that one from Basil brush didn't you MJF... Wink

However the Australian Government are now exporting criminals back to blighty Laughing , recently there has been cases in regard to people who emigrated here decades ago as kids, who stay as residents rather than become dual citizens, and once they break the law they are deported back to their land of origin..

hence why i got my citizenship done quickly just in case i committed a major felony such as Speeding Whistle its treated nigh on as a capital crime here Laughing Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

I can't believe it.

you hire a car with obligations, have some fun, get caught, then make it someone else's problem . It is not just a matter of the $ it is also a moral issue. Or is it all about the dollars and you are happy to just leave the burden with the hire company. Have some backbone and take responsibility for your actions. PAY UP.

Can the credit card be used if cancelled completely?, My guess, it would be not be able to be used in a store (its a guess as i have never tried to use a cancelled card before)

So how will hertz be able to use the card, these payments are not pre-existing ones Confused

I don't think hertz will have swiped the card expecting that these will appear (though if it happens often they might, like opening a tab at a restaurant when they swipe your card),

These would be new transactions, just because JF has used the card with Hertz before, doesn't mean they will be able to just take payments after its been cancelled, it might be in their T&C that they will with fines, but they will only be able to place new debits on a valid card.

Well that seem logical in my head Laughing

The agreement to pay with that card was made when hiring the car as part of the terms and conditions, it is why credit or debit cards are required by all car hire firms. Try hiring a car with cash only from Hertz.

Another thing against Jonny Fresh is that he wants to cancel the card after being informed of the debt liability on that card, talk about shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Still, looking on the bright side the total amount owed increases the longer the delay. Whistle

Wrong. Banging Head Banging Head

nobody can remove any money from a closed credit card account can they? how can they if the account is closed? plus wouldnt they need authorisation from the card holder anyway?

transfer your credit card to a different card lender and settle/close your current card account, its just an unpaid speeding fine so it doesnt affect your credit file either

and then grow a Backbone haha! Rolling with laughter just kidding
