Daylight Running Lights

Can anyone tell me if the front LED sidelights on the 2010 RRS are also called or could be known as Daylight Running Lights and if they are, is there anyway to get them to come on with the ignition instead of manually switching on the sidelights?

Im sure that this will have been covered before but I can't find it.

The dealer has to turn them on for daylight running lights.

Many thanks for the replies. Bow down
As luck would have it, I have found a few posts now on the subject and it would appear that you can't just have the DRL's on without the tail lights etc.

I also looked into this and it seems that indeed it is a dealer config item and will leave you with headlights, LED's and rear lights on all the time. Looks like it was done to appease certain markets around the world!

Oh why couldn't LR have done what the others have and given us the lovely lit up LED look? Sad MY2014 RRS Autobiography in Corris Grey, Black contrast roof and Cirrus interior, adaptive lights and side steps.

Seems odd as then they arent DLR Lights then but true side lights?

I asked for mine to be activated prior to pick up and noticed they arent on as running lights but come on at light setting 1 (side lights). The manual states this is the running light position as long as the engine is running and gear selection is not in park. Seems odd it doesnt work in the auto position?

Another design issue by LR not taking that extra thought process to give us that true running light look??

Surely not a big job to re-connect the led wires to an ignition live?

Why when the option is there you just select it!!

They can be enabled to run when the ignition is on, i saw that option - explained WTF would you need that on! and moved on Mike

Ive tried the settings and the leds only come on if sidelights are on - that isnt running lights. They dont come on at all in auto so I need the dealer to confirm set up maybe? Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

Guys,

The LED's are not DRL's (they are not bright enough). You can configure any current LR model to default to 4 corner side lights (except Defender). They are purely signature LED's to add some interest to the front illumination.

James Thumbs Up

Thanks James, but if thats the case then have LR failed to meet the new law?

"Vehicle manufacturers must fit DRL to new types of passenger car and light goods vehicle (car derived vans) type approved to European vehicle requirements from February 2011"

Even the manual refers to "Day Light Running Lamps"

Yet again more confusion in the evolution of the RRS Shocked Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

New types of passanger car and light goods vehicle refers to new models ie evoque and not current models with a facelift so i'm led to believe Shocked
