AUX not working with Iphone

So I've just bought my 57 plate RRS HSE, and after reading this forum I thought I was pretty clued up and found the pesky AUX connection in the centre console. However - after plugging my normal 3.5 cable that I used in my previous car into it and selecting AUX on the stereo - nothing! Ive messed about with the volume settings (Aux and master as well as on my phone) and I cant get a peep out of it. Anyone got any suggestions?

Either a faulty cable, socket or phone.

Have you a dock cable plugged in too (if it's an iPhone)? If so, the phone assumes audio is to go via the dock cable and not the headphone socket. In such cases you have to start the iPod/iPhone playing first and then plug in to aux lead.

If it's not this, something else is broken. Rolling Eyes Hope that helps.

ETA: You can tell if the audio AUX audio in is working as if you start the car with the audio lead un-plugged and AUX selected, you should hear clicks/ticks on the speakers.
