Towbar Electrics

Hi

just been quoted £160 to supply and fit 7 pin single towbar electrics. Does this sound about right ? Not main dealer but local fitting

It's a couple of hours work at most to do yourself at a nice steady pace (I fitted twin 7 and 13 pin electrics half in the dark with my iPhone as a torch.. and I'm no electrician!).

There's a guide on here somewhere on how to fit them (text and photos) if you want to save yourself some beer money Smile

Cheers..

Ian

Hi mate..

Sorry.. if I wasn't ill, and was more local (NW London isn't _quite_ as local as would be preferred Laughing ) I'd happily do it for you for a couple of warm drinks.

I found the hardest / most awkward part for mine was feeding the wire down from the rear light cluster wiring and behind the bumper.. but this I suspect was mainly due to me having an HST so I have a deeper rear bumper to contend with and the trapezoid tail pipe trims that got in the way. I used some plastic package strapping in the end as I found some in the skip that was being used next door, but you could easily use something like a metal coat hanger to help feed it down if there was awkwardness.

I was about to point you to the There is a DIY install guide but have noticed that the images are no longer available. I've contacted the OP to see if they still have the images somewhere and whether they can send them to me so that I can reconstruct the guide as a downloadable PDF as it was most definitely useful.

Anyways... sorry I can't help you mate. I don't know if there's anyone on here more local that might be able to do the job at a "mate's rates" price.. maybe someone will drop a msg here for you if so Smile

Cheers..

Ian

Fit a modern 13pin version then use an adaptor for any trailer with old skool 7pin electrics.
The added bonus of a 13pin is you can use it to charge the battery. No can do on single 7pin electrics.
Just an idea for you to mull over Thumbs Up Visitor from fullfatrr.com
