United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Maya Gold
Locking wheel nut removal, RRS 2005

Hi, A dealer fitted a lockingh wheel nut so damn tight that it will just not come off.
The locking key split, so bought a new one, there's some burring on the locking nut which tends to eing the key off as I turn it
I've tried impact wrench, gently coaxing, but it just will not budge
Need to get it off soon as tyre almost illegal

Has anybody had any experience in this kind of problem ??

needless to say the dealer says it wasn't them and is blaming me !

Cheers
Steve

Well last resort is to chisel the locking wheel nut out, but you are more than likely going to damage your alloy & will need a new one.

I had a m3 a few years ago, same problem only solution was the above and all 4 of my alloys were completely wrecked (beyond the point of a referb). Luckily I got the stealer to buy me some new wheels.

I would recommend fighting the dealership and get them to sort it because you can end up with a rather large bill!

Good luck.

Your local tyre fitter should have the tools to remove such & you'll be fine to travel a short distance on the four remaining nuts. See this thread for a tale of woe & angst.
Once removed, may I suggest you buy a set of four regular nuts and bin the remaining lockers? More trouble than they're worth- if you get a wheel pinched, it's always the spare.
