Big brother - why are some posts edited and locked

Ok so this one is grating on me a little, why have resonble comments made on Niklebacks HSE TDV8 sale message been deleted and then the message locked!

A lot of people made valid comments that £35k is a little on the high price for an 07 HSE!

I thought this site was available for us all and certainly a good source of information for potential new buyers, however I am now a little dissapointed that big brother has possibly interfered a little too much this time, why is one persons view held over that of others!

****Note to mods, this is my post, please don't delete it before healthy discussion has taken place***

One would guesss that the original poster requested this action Whistle

If I were trying to sell a bog standard TDV8 with a few aftermarket bits on, minus one of the most desired options at more than market value I would take an Ostrich stance too Thumbs Up

Well said mate.

Very few cars sell on here I guess and of course you're going to be open to critics for eg if you sell a Rover 75 for 25k, you're bound to get a few heckles from the gallery......

Just put in on Piston or Autotrader and job done.

And FFS don't write war and peace about it either....

I guess but I would feel a little guilty if a new member went along and paid that sort of money for a car without being aware of market values!

Imagine how such a member would then feel if they became a regular poster and discovered their mistake later down the line.... and further more had recieved no such help or advice from their new found 'friends'

Well thats my view anyway.....lets hope Martin does not put me in the naughty corner for my free speech!!!!!

Thanks for your comments all.

As you know, it's exceptionally rare that moderator action is required to clear up/lock threads. In this case, as I posted in the thread in question, I was asked by the original poster to do so.

Particularly with For Sale postings, there's often a fine line between helpful replies and the thread being "spoilt" by comments about the asking price.

Hope this explains matters Smile Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

So, this is a forum where we're encouraged to air our views and share thoughts and information... Most of the time helping fellow enthusiasts to get more out of their vehicles etc.. Unless someone is unhappy with it when it's all deleted.. With respect to Martin, I don't think that's right...

Cheers,
J
