Just an intake on one side on a D3, nothing on the other

Thanks for that.................. I have also read somewhere (on D3 I think) that there are no seals when you fit the D3 raised intake so that would mean that it is only a raised intake and not a "snorkel" thus not allowing any greater wading depth............... It's designed to reduce the amount of dust entering the engine primarily, it is sealed but not to a great extent, just a foam gasket so it will stop some water from entering but not a full on dunking.

Slimer have already been down that road.................. fortunately it was in my Tdi300 Defender with no drownable electronics! But it did cost me two new rear hubs as LR don't use waterproof grease and at the time I didn't have extended axle breathers and a viscuous coulping for the cooling fan! I wasn't intending to go up to the roof with water.................. will have to limit my deep wading to wing intake height! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

The link to the LRNA site is interesting Umberto, LRNA claim the raised intake is suitable for deep water wading...............

The vehicle is only designed to handle the advertised wading depth... with or without the snorkel. Pity your poor vehicle electronics and engine.

What you need Tim is one of those large rubber Johnnies on an extending frame they used to put on army tanks for river crossings. Fits around the waist of the vehicle and extends up above it creating a dry moving island. MY08 RRS TDV8 HSE, Stornoway Grey, Ebony and Zabrano, sunroof, hybrid tv, premium ICE, rear E diff, privacy glass, side steps, mud flaps, S/Grey mirror covers, Venture shield, tasmods, smoked indicators, Larini sports exhaust, etc, etc. |
