2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
Planet 4x4 Magazine

Found a new 4x4 mag on Smith's shelves yesterday and it caught my eye because it has a road/off road test of the 4.4RRS v Cayenne S v Toureg V10 v new ML500.............................. Toerag and Piggy were joint 3rd, RRS was 2nd and ML won BUT the journos doing the testing state that had the car LR were originally going to supply for the test not been crashed the week before then the RRS would have won by miles. They were supposed to test the S/C and not the normal 4.4. The RRS was tops in most thing except onroad handling and ultimate power - was best value for money, best built, best offroad, best standard of equioment (all the others offroad gear is an expensive optional extra!) Also in 4.4 form it was the least expensive car on the test - had it been a 4.2 then the RRS would have been in the middle of the price range.
It was a close run test though - out of a possible 35 points score for each car, at the end of the day they were only seperated by 2 points between top score and lowest score. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Tim, it's always heartening to read things like this. If they had supplied S/C i guess it would have won.

I read a test bewteen 4.4, Cayenne and X5 4.4 Sport in What Car some time ago and RRS came last!

'Does not deserve Sport moniker' they said. We all know a 2.5 tonne car is not going to handle like a Gti, but What Car ALWAYS seem to base their verdicts on how a car handles and little else! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I find that the opinions of motoring journalists are very subjective and best ignored.
I suppose if it had been a TDV6 they'd have slagged it off. Where as in the real world its exceptionally very good as we know. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone
