At least you'd be safe if you ploughed into a mountain.

hi,
hey 10 out of 10 for nav fix on the go !
but 2 questions..?
1) i did this and when i got back in that car a couple of hours later the "fix" had gone back to normal so had to put pin in again. i take it that u need to do this every time... anyone know if there is a way of making it so it doesn't revert back to factory setting every time you turn the car of..? or am i doing something wrong..?

Also a friend has a 05 RR Td6 Vogue with the touch screen display which is near enough the same as the rr Sport, would this pin be same for his car..?

cheers, nick

Answer to Q1. Yes you have to imput it each time. As yet no fix but hopefully one day.
Q2. Don't know - try and see. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Yes, as documented... it's temporary. It's a diag function, so it gets reset when restarting the system.

The system is the same on all "new" Land Rover vehicles, so the PIN will work on all of them. (05+ RR, RRS and Disco 3/LR3.)

Re-posted from the other threads... just a FYI to those that may be confused:

"With this PIN code, you temporarily disable the safety lockouts of the Navigation system.

Many features of the Navigation system are disabled while moving for safety purposes. For example, you can't enter a new address via touchscreen keyboard. Some of the locked out features make sense... you really can't enter a full address by hand while driving safely, etc. But some of them are dumb.

The worst part of the lockout is if I have a passenger. They should be able to use the system fully. With this diag PIN code, they now can."

Funny you should say that, before I bought the Beemer, I almost bought a 9-3 Aero.

Decided against it when I found out I was diabetic Sad (Something to do with the bubbles?) Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Belgium 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Not in a Volvo

I just discovered this whole "you can't makes inputs to the Nav system while driving" issue when I first went to see about ordering an RRS TDV6 - I have a sort of joy stick mounted on the backside of my steering wheel in the Volvo XC90 that allows me to use the nav system anytime...

The Land Rover dealer told me that this is a safety issue...fine, I understand that - but you have to wonder why the Safety Maven's over at Volvo (part of the same Premium group as Land Rover) would allow the Nav to be used while driving while the folks at Land Rover would not?

I was going to take a pass on the nav system for this reason, but then we decided to go HSE which includes it...so this forum has already earned my appreciation for delivering a hack I will without doubt use.

Thanks Very Happy

I'd definitely opt for the LR SatNav. Never let me down once!

Why is having a SatNav control on the move any different than hands free phone/changing CD or radio on the unit or s'wheel/iPod cradle fitted? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
