Answer to Q1. Yes you have to imput it each time. As yet no fix but hopefully one day.

Yes, as documented... it's temporary. It's a diag function, so it gets reset when restarting the system.

I just discovered this whole "you can't makes inputs to the Nav system while driving" issue when I first went to see about ordering an RRS TDV6 - I have a sort of joy stick mounted on the backside of my steering wheel in the Volvo XC90 that allows me to use the nav system anytime...

I'm sure if it wasn't safe then it wouldn't even be considered for a Volvo! A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.
