Should be able to get into an RRS from a UK dealer way before 2007, even if you had to order it from scratch today.... you'd just have to work out the logistics of having it delivered overseas if it wasn't a "local" order in the first place

A dealer can order as many cars as he wants, with our without a signed contract with a client and lots of dealers do order a few of cars to have something to display in their showrooms. I reckon that in your case somebody was just quicker signing on the dotted line... It's first come first serve, isn't it? When I went in to see my dealer a fortnight ago for a software upgrade of the PTI system I was also told that people having placed an order for a diesel in March will have to wait til spring 2007 for their cars to arrive. Amazing! Apparently the reason behind this is a serious shortage of TDV6 diesel engines... Can you Brits confirm this? No such waiting list for the V8 though. You should be able to get one in about three months. BTW I would avoid buying "offshore". If you are unlucky and get a lemon or even with a car with few technical faults you'll still need to get software updates, bring it in for recalls, etc, etc. (just check the various posts in this forum) and I can assure you that LR Switzerland will not treat you the same way as if you would have bought from them. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD 2010 TDV8 Ultimate Edition, zermatt-ebony-grand lacquer, and all the goodies, plus Superchips Bluefin ECU performance upgrade, Gibson Performance exhaust tips gone after only 7 months: MY10 TDV63.0 HSE, zermatt-ebony-anigree, Dynamic Response, Rear diff-lock, flappy paddles, premium leather, Sunroof, PTI, privacy glass, S/C design 5 Spoke Diamond Turned alloys |

Roland, under EU comsumer regs the warranty is enforcable anywhere in Europe, and I think that even counts in Switzerland even though it isn't a member of the EU. The dealers don't like it because they have to do warranty work on a car they didn't supply and have to wait months for the money to be refunded by LR. The same thing happens here in the UK if you buy your car from one dealer then take it to another for warranty work, the second dealer will do all he can to stall you!

On the subject of TDV6 shortages, I don't know if there are shortages or not, but just remember how many different cars use this engine.
