Tyre pressures..

How much PSI/BAR are you supposed to have in our tyres?
I drive on standard 19" HSE alloys with continental tyres.

Went to the petrol pump on sat to check my tyre pressures as i have neglected to do so for some time! and to my surprise, the door panel says 60psi all round!! is this right, only reason i ask is, i know normally on road cars, it is around the 30 mark. I checked each tyre and they were currently ranging from 28-34, so i just took it as correct and sat there for ages pumping them up again to the stated 60psi.. no definitely don't have any slow punctures, and it has been a while since checking them... but can they really drop by this amount..?

Makes me wonder how often i should really be checking them, weekly?
I suppose the car does weight 2.5tonnes and when cornering and driving at high speeds the pressure must really act on these tyres.

After pumping them up, it was amazing the difference to grip and ride! wot a wally!!

The guy behind me in the rover metro was waiting for ages!! serves him right for driving a metro!!

Kam that is wrong ..... seriously wrong

This was mentioned on a thread last week....... i cant check my car as its at the dealers as we speak - due back tomorrow now - needs parts

But its about 36psi....

If your door sticker says 60 PSI, someone made a serious mistake in the factory.

I think the pressures are the same whichever tyres/wheels you run (at least the factory combinations) - like MDP said I think it's around 36psi per wheel. 60psi is definitely not right and I would deflate them back to the mid 30s asap.

2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Chawton White

Front tires s/b 38 psi, rear s/b 42 psi. This is regardless of size (the tag on my HSE lists all size wheels, from 17 to 20", and the recommended inflation pressure is identical for all of them.) I just got 21" rims and used the same numbers, as recommended by the vendor. I think you may want to go a bit above that only on very low profile rims (22" and up), but not by much. 60 psi is well above the maximum inflation pressure recommended by tire manufacturers, let alone Land Rover. Your tires will explode!

Kam, 60psi is the pressure we inflate the tyres too before they leave the factory.

This is to avoid flat spots on the tyres when vehicles are left sitting in compounds for weeks on end, or on ships being transported around the world.

I think the 60psi on the door tyre label relates to the space saving spare wheel.

The true working pressure of your road wheels should be 33psi in the front and 36psi in the rear. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

As you can see Kam is partly correct.......... 60PSI but only if you are running on 175/80/R19's - would they be the spacesavers?
