frozen bits

Duno someone might know, bit disappointed that the washer system freezes up at the hint of frost;
love the heated seats as im getting a bit soft in my advancing years, but the washer system freezing up is a bit 'Austin Allegro' after all how do you off road all terrain guys manage,

Anyone got any thoughts? I know you can get a ribbon system to wrap around domestic water pipes (240v), and I know I could make a version ( and have done for other situations), but the insurance co might not be happy; so is there a retro fit system out there?, before I run over a muddy cyclist as they can be the same color as the windscreen.

I will rant about heated stearing wheels next time. a womans rule of thumb:if it has tyres or testicles your going to have trouble with it

You need to use virtually neat washer liquid then it doesn't freeze! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Either your washer fluid is too weak or your washer jets are NW. Mine were working at -17 the other night!!

I'm currently using LR concentrate Screenwash at a ratio of 1:1.

James

Mine freezes up very easily also, is the LR concentrate an anti freeze additive or screenwash in its own right such that it can be used all year round?

When you say washer jets ar NW, what do you mean please?

Sorry, by NW I mean Not Working.

Yes screenwash should have antifreeze in it (LR supplied antifreeze does), therefore you adjust the ratio of screenwash to water depending on what time of the year it is. In summer you would probably use 1:4 and in winter (upto -10) it is 1:1 from memory, however any colder than theat then you probably need a specialist antifreeze.

That's the stuff I use, very good. Otherwise I use the shell screenwash neat and have no problems freezing.

Presently using Halfrauds normal stuff neat in my D3 neat. Says good down to -15c but in reality works down to -11c. Once that stuff is used up will get some Comma stuff, couple of places listed in Leatherhead. Mind you have "winter" mix level (1:4 conc ISTR) of Halfrauds stuff in SWMBO's D3, tends to be good enough for Surrey at around freezing. Any colder and we use my car with its heated steering wheel!! Thumbs Up

I use neat washer fluid from either Halfords or Costco. We have had -20 Degrees C several times this winter
already and I have had no issues with freezing at all Thumbs Up 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I assume that the headlight washer jets are the same fuse as the windscreen washer jets (F11) can someone confirm this, there does not appear to be a seperate fuse for them in the manual.
