United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Giverney Green
Post Test Drive......Now I know.

As a guest of Ford, I had an afternoon playing with cars at Gaydon (Heritage Motor Museum). I had the pick of the Ford 'family' fleet, except for the Aston Martin. On a 13 mile pre-determined road route I was able to drive the new Jaguar XK, new Volvo C70 convertable and the 4.2 Turbo and 4.4 RRS, as well as the Disco 3.

The XK was just a dream as you can imagine, but for me the star turn was the RRS Turbo because it was familiar but very, very different to my 2.7. Naturally I thrashed it, especially on the M40. It pulls away with a kick in the back even through the mid 90mph range and just keeps on going. Its strange to see other cars pull over sharpish when they see it approaching at speed in their mirrors. Oh and the noise!!!!!! What a car. The downside? Seeing the average MPG reading 13.4!!!!!!

Back to Gaynor for a session on their off road track in a RRS 2.7 which I had booked so as to get the hang of it, in someone else's vehicle.

So I now know what you 4.2 and 4.4 owners go on about........good choice if you can live with the fuel consumption.

I haven't had the privilage of driving a S/C, but I've heard the engine in the Jag S-TypeR - Awesome.

I can't wait for the LRE and take a RRS TDV6 off road and see what it can do.

All I've done to date is 10 secs in 6" snow on a carpark in the Lakes! Embarassed Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
