Isn't approved by who ATM? The Dealer, Land Rover or the Insurance Industry? I think your dealer might be selling these things on a commission basis and that is why it is their only "approved" tracker 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I suspect your insurance company requests a 'tracker', but they use this as a generic term and not a trade name. I suspect they actually mean any Thatcham Q approved device.

If you have TrafficMaster's SmartNav sat nav sysem fitted, you can add RAC Trackstar subscription to that too. While it works the same, it isn't that secure as the hardware doesn't need to be fitted covertly, so the antenna wires will often be exposed and the unit has no battery backup. However, many insurance companies will accept this as a tracking device and give you the discount. Matt

Incredible pricing. I don't know how they can make any money. The margin on the hardware is no where near enough to allow the dealer to bundle in free fitting.
I do hope they are fitting them properly – it’s not a quick job fitting them, keeping the antennas hidden, yet in a location where they work. Matt

Well, I've got my new D3 now and my D3 registration (which I've had for many years) has now found a home in it's ideal car. Therefore, I though the new username was more suitable. Matt

I suppose it must be quite an art, fitting these... every make of car must require a slightly different fitting and they're all covert installations aren't they?

Apparently the fitting for Fonejunkie is done by Advanced Mobile Systems, who say they are approved fitters by RAC Trackstar, don't know how Fonejunkie can do it for £299 including vat & fitting though! Has anyone had dealings with Advance Mobile Systems based at Warrington, Cheshire? Question Arrived - RRSport 2016 HSE SDV6 HSE
