Welded Stormer 22" Wheel

Hi All, It's been a while since my last post.

I recently gave one of my 22" Stormer wheel to a local shop in Doha (supposedly one of the best)
to fix a deep curb scratch on the rim. He filled the curb scratch with some material and then
weld it (I guess) leaving a black mark. He presumed I was gonna take it for painting afterwards
(which is now a must Crying or Very sad )

Unfortunately, NO paintshop in Doha would take my wheel. They all said this is not a Silver paint they
are used to work with or one that can easily be re-touched (brighty shiny silver). They offered to paint
it in regular silver but then I'll need to do all 4 wheels to match Shocked

Are these 22" Stormers really painted in SILVER or Machined-Face?
Can they be retouched? What is the code that I should be looking for?

I'll probably need to look for a paint solution online as these local shops here are not
too advanced.

Kindly advise

I believe you guys miss understood me. There is NOTHING wrong with the wheel.
The Black color is only a residue of the curb scratch fixing process. The guy
used some welding technique to fix the rim at one spot and left these black marks Mad

Is there a way to re-touch it?

or is there a paint code that I can use to spray it all over these 22" wheels to restore
the original factory look?

Appreciate all your ideas.

If it was just a scratch then why would they need to get the welder/blow torch out? They have obviously used heat to treat the casting and at the same time have scorched the coating. But without knowing exactly what they have done to your rim I couldn't comment further.

I wouldn't be surprised if the wheels are metal flake powder coated actually. If thats the case then no regular painting process will match it. I think these rims are made in Italy at the same place where Land Rover gets alot of their alloy wheels from.
Check with the local powder coaters in Doha...they may have a solution for you. They may even have a clear coat over the top as well?

I recently Censored one of my RRSC rims and thought about getting it repaired locally in Dubai but thought better of it and managed to get a free replacement from the local dealer here Thumbs Up .
I have an aluminium repair kit ( Google HLS2000 aluminium welding) that I've used with success on quite afew projects but I wouldn't risk using it to fill a missing chunk out of a high performance car rim like a RRS!
