Al-ko towbars - question for the caravan people

I've done a search and nothing came up, so thought I'd ask.

We've just bought a caravan, pick it up in 2 weeks. Now, a caravan nerd friend of ours is telling me my detachable Land Rover RRS towbar might not be suitable for the Al-ko stabiliser towball on the caravan, it might foul the unit and stop the stabiliser from working. Anyone know if that's true ?? Last thing I want to have to do is fit a new fixed towing assembly, I'd have thought the standard LR detachable towhook is OK for this sort of thing ??

Cheers

England 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 S Buckingham Blue

Hi Mike

I tow a twin axle Baily with the AlKo hitch and electronic anti snake device using the Genuine Land Rover detachable tow bar, it works perfectly with no fouling of the bumper.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Thanks chaps, much appreciated. It's a Bailey Indiana we've bought, albeit a single axle 24ft jobbie. Good to hear I don't need to change the tow hitch Thumbs Up Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

i have just purchased a caravan and having the al-ko triple pack fited,i think the person is refering to the al-ko atc device which is fitted to modern/new caravans.the lady in the shop gave me a fright when she said the swan neck is not suitable for the al-ko hitch.so you won't have a problem unless the van has the atc device fitted, well thats what i was told

You wont have a problem with Atc fitted, there is no difference in the hitch. You will only have a problem with a fixed tow bar where you need different ball bracket
