United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Stornoway Grey
Why is it that...

I keep getting Diesel Sport owners trying their hardest to whizz past me on motorways, and normaly by any means they can.....just so they can get past?

I find it bizarre. When I had an M5, no one tried to race me, maybe cos they knew if they did, they had ZERO chance of winning (It's an awesome car Very Happy )

Now I have the Supercharged every other sport owner I come across seems to take umbridge and wants to get in front of me so they can choke me in their plume of black smoke.

Are they jealous? Shocked
Do they resent me having the SC? Crying or Very sad
Or are they just t0ssers? Question

I'd like to think all LR drivers were of a certain breed, but sadly I think that's not the case. Confused L319 D4 HSE

This could, unfortunately be a cross to bear with introducing such a great looking 'Sport' model.

This is my 1st LR, but I assure you that (Despite being a Beemer owner) I drive my RRS with respect to it, and other road users. These must be terrifying bearing down on any car.

I tried to keep up with a S/C last week just to get a look at it but he left me in a (NO SMOKE) cloud so I just left him to it.

There are idiots amongst every marque (Yes, even saw a prat in a Corolla GTiZXTiTURBOBAG'O'SH*TE on the M6) so I guess without the odd tos**r we RRSporter's wouldn't have anything to moan about otherwise.

Except for warning messages. Oh and suspension failiures. Oh and paintwork defects. And uncomfortable seats. And zzzzzzzzzzzzzz Yawn Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I've had this with another couple of diesels too... maybe us diesel owners really are all suffering from small engine syndrome Wink I must admit I don't try and race people in mine, it's a bit pointless. That's not to say I didn't race people when I had my M3 - I knew I could win then Wink I've slowed down since owning it as a general rule.

Engine envy Shmoogle Laughing I must be getting to be an old fart, I don't let them bother me. If they want to make themselves look silly then that's up to them. I know what a S/C looks like and that it will blow my RR into the weeds so what is the point of me trying to emulate them. I enjoy a burn up like everybody else but I choose to do it on a quiet straight road and not a motorway. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Germany 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Cairns Blue

I purchased a diesel as I knew it would slow me down. It is quite stressful driving at 145-150mph for prolonged periods on the auto-bahn.
I have noticed that other 4wd drivers, (especially Mercedes and BMW) look the other way when they see my RRS. The RRS, over here, is regarded as specialist vehicle for the well heeled (people with "Von" in there surname own them) and they are mostly sold by dealers that deal in Aston, Jag, Ferrari, etc. Over here, basically anyone with another brand of 4wd hates you. There is even a Landrover club, just up the road in Neufahrn but my friend says they look down on you if you do not have a defender!!!!! Shocked

On the racing bit of the thread, I was driving my bosses 911 through Aylesbury one evening and was "taken on" by a young asian chap in a........................Fiat Panda turbo (well it had a turbo badge on it). It was great fun through the roundabouts (I negotiated them better than Jermain Penant). I waited at the traffic lights for him and he gave me a thumbs up with lots of revving with his mates laughing in the back. It was good fun!!
