Buying a Used RRSport TDV6 ... what to look for?

Hello,

What a great group. I have just had my 1998 HSE written off after a storm. Good news in many ways. I am looking to buy a 2007/2006 TDV6 Sport. Have been reading the Tips and Tricks posts. Most here in australia are at the 100,000km mark. What should I look for?

Cheers

Pete

Make sure it has 4 wheels and an engine. Doors helps, stops you falling out.

But seriously lots of previous posts on such matters mate. Good luck Thumbs Up

Owners need humour?

I see .... RRSport owners need humour. But I detect a tone of sarcasm. Hmmmmmm

What's your budget? You will see on carsales.com.au that there are lots for sale. It would be worth (if not buying from a main dealer) getting it checked by an independent specialist. Where are you located?

Budget

Thanks BKHK,

Yes I have been looking at carsales.com.au quite alot. I was hoping not to spend more than $55k. I have noticed that prices have gone up in recent months. Last year I took a 2009 (new) TDV6 from ULR for a test drive and was impressed. I was allowed to tow two horses and float. Very nice result. It had a $79k tag on it. Earlier this year I tried a 2006 TDV6 from a dealer for a drive It had 92k on the clock, but engine noise was prominent early in the morning. It was $55k. Now there is nothing under $60k, most are at higher $60's and low $70's. I am about to start shopping again.

I am located in Yan Yean. Have found some 'specialists" not familiar with TD technology. Have printed off some of the TSB's and recall data. I am going to be a hard sale ..... chuckle

Cheers

Or maybe the 4.4L V8?

I have heard the 4.4L V8 is more reliable .... Impost on fuel, but much lower risk .....??? Comments appreciated

Yeah. There are a load of trolling idiots on here. You ask for honest advice and you get some juveniles thinking they are funny - even the moderators do it.

.... and then they say "oh lighten up".

There should be an "immature idiot filter" button somewhere. That's not my name

Most diesels are noisy first thing in the morning, you would need to compare a newer one to be convinced the older one has any issues. My TDV6 is very quiet and smooth, it's still only 18500 km but it is noticeably smoother and quieter than a TD6 FFRR.

Look for any private buys on carsales which have been on the market for a while at higher prices and that are around 2 years old, it indicates someone trying to get out of a lease or finance and they may take an offer.
