What are you using to hold your mobile phones?

I'm just curious if you actually have a cradle/mount for your phones or do you simply put them in the cup holder?

I notice that some VAG cars come equipped with some nice mounts towards the side of the center console but they seem to be phone specific.

Anyway, i'm just curious if you guys can give me some ideas. Currently i'm using a Treo 700W (basically a Treo 650 w/ windows OS) www.vip-culture.com | 06 RRS HSE | 06 Odyssey Touring

Don't know if I'm missing something here, but if PTI is fitted you can either get a cradle fitted under the centre console box, or just leave your phone in your pocket and use bluetooth Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I see where they are coming from Supertrotter - no cradle for most phones - so people revert to bluetooth, but you need access to your phone a lot for so many other things other than to make the odd call over bluetooth. So a dash mount could be helpful. But I just leave it in the cup holder or it will slot in nicely into the cigarette lighter/ashtray hole.

Also without LR cradle - people need to keep their mobile charged if they are out all day and a dashmount cradle will tidy things up.

But personally - not for me Wink

Always leave mine in my pocket, or it slots nicely into the ciggarette ashtray.. haven't got a cradle, no point me buying on either.

In the audi i've got coming, i've specc'd a dash mounted GSM phone kit, so hopefully it won't look too cluttered..

Talking of phones why don't LR make things easier and just include a sim card slot in their dash? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

This is what BMW do... although they hide it under the centre armrest and it's a Censored to get to. And then you need to go the whole dual SIM route to make it as convenient as the cradle solution... my 2p anyway Wink

Yeah the Audi has Bluetooth, the GSM dash mount kit is the cradle for greater connectivity and signal for your phone and for charging it etc.. unsure whether Audi are as crap as LR yet with the availability of decent and popular cradles, will soon see. Can connect up with bluetooth as well so all good.

Yeah Bmw do offer the sim route, but its naff.. Our 7 series has cordless GSM phone in the front, which if u pop off the holdster it means private conversations can be held for people in the car, as its not always convenient to have calls bellowing through speakers for all to hear (thats what i've experienced anyway).

But unfortunately with the sim card route, you would have to take the sim card in/out ur phone all the time, as not a lot of providers now offer dual sims for one account (as we found out) hence we usually have a PAYG sim inserted in the 7 which lives inside the car, and we have it labelled as Bmw Car Phone. If you ring it and it's turned off, you know the car is not in use, and so then ring the person on the mobile instead. When going longer journeys/business trip where we need to stay in phone contact with the office at all times, we divert our mobiles to the car phone whilst on the motorway.. is not the best situation and resolution to in car systems, so much prefer bluetooth and find this is the most convenient hassle free route. A combination of the two.. i.e. bluetooth connectivity from the phone, but also having a cordless module to make calls private etc for passenger (of course! Very Happy ) would be the best solution.

Unsure but i think in the facelifted newer 7 series this is the case..

I've got a self-adhesive magnet that has a rubber covering which you just stick on the dashboard with a self-adhesive plate on the back of the phone.....works perfectly. You can see the phone, use it if you must.....and the best bit, the kit costs £4.

Even Mr Brown couldn't ruin that one!

I have been forgetting things lately......certainly having an effect on me. But not the phone, I've put them on a few cars without a problem. They are specially made for the job.
