2.7 TDV6 Engine start up......rough!

Hi please help.
My 2005 TDV6 starts in the mornings like it's miss firing (runs lumpy for a short period) then settles down. I always wait for the glow plug symbol to dissapear before starting. At the main dealers an EGR valve had been replaced recently, a full service the same week and then i sent it back in again for further checks on the other EGR valve and glow plugs etc. They said they were fine and all the vehicle required was a computer udpdate.
I trusted them, but feel like i have been fobbed off (yet again) as the problem still persists, some days worse than others.
Every vehicle i have ever owned i have been able to turn the ignition key and the engine fire up immediately, even without having a foot on the accelerator. With this RRS i literally need to have the accelerator pressed half way for it to fire (even then its lump)
Is this part of owning an RRS?

I didn't think in any modern car you should have to press the accelerator to start the engine. This can't be right. Is there another local dealer you can try? WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

My thoughts exactly...
This is my first Land Rover and purchased through 'Hillendale' just off the M65 in Lancashire. I've been back with lots of silly problems all covered under the extended warranty but this problem doesn't appear to be getting solved.
Once the car has fired up for the first time that day, there is no problem therafter. Its so frustrating! I don't want to be viewed as a moaning ba Censored rd by the dealership, i'd just like to feel confident taking it back and the issue sorted out, whatever it may be.
Any advice on the fault or does anyone recommend another dealership local to my area (Lancashire)

Thanks Jonny Fresh, we must have been typing at the same time....
With regards to the fault, does anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this?
Also, if taken to a different LR dealership, would the work (subject to warranty conditions) be covered?

If its only the first time its started you should ask the dealer to keep it overnight so that they can experience it. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Hi Richard thanks for your response.
I did let them keep it for 3 days in which time the technician said he experienced on the vehicle what i was talking about. However, he states the EGR valves and glow plugs and all connections are fine and that it took a software download update. I felt at the time it was a load of bull, but you put trust in these organisations.
Should i be taking it back asking for further investigation or cut my losses and take the vehicle elsewhere?
I would like to assume it would be covered under the extended warranty.

There was a very old TSB on such an issue (2007, I think).

Basically it was concerning TDV6 engines whose idle quality is poor for 10 to 25 seconds after starting from cold for the first time during the day. After that it will be OK the whole day!

This was attributed to contamination (debris/dirt or corrosion) in the fuel injectors. Apparently this affects injector spray and delivery rate. An injector with damaged internal sealing will also result in unmetered fuel entering the intake manifold.

This is a fuel problem. The fuel tank need to be cleaned and fuel filter changed. If the problem still persists, the fuel injectors need to be checked for flow rate etc.

Not sure if this will help but...call me numpty! Malaysia Boleh!

Thanks bobby
What's a TSB?
If this proved to be the reason would this work be covered under warranty?

Also, It's just been serviced at 57k. Would the fuel filter have been changed at this service?

Its a service bulletin for the garage. I would have thought if you have an extended warranty then this should covered whatever it takes to get it fixed. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

I don't know if you'll be able to claim warranty.

Anyway, have just looked my notes - this TSB is LTB00047v2 and it covers
2.7L (TDV6) Diesel Engines, VIN-range: 5A900505-6A966000.

Good luck! Wink Malaysia Boleh!
