It's odd, but I think the existence of the FFRR actually weakens the RRS to an extent. When you look at the RRS's competition, those cars tend to be the top rung model of their respective manufacturers (or at least in the 4x4 sector) so the manufacturers stick everything extra on it. Whereas for the RRS, there's still the FFRR sat above it in the pecking order and LR need to differentiate between the two so the FFRR gets the really cutting edge stuff whereas the RRS gets the good-but-not-quite-as-good stuff.

For example, look at the 'virtual' instruments on the FFRR and the split TV screen thing; no reason why they couldn't be available as options on the RRS except I think LR like to reserve them to try and tempt people up to the FFRR.
